Good as Gore-tex gets

By:
June 23, 2006

I think that this is a good, QUALITY, everyday Gore-tex product. I'm tall, and it fits almost perfectly, meaning the sleeves are plenty long, and it adjusts in all the right places. It has never left me wet--snow or rain. It goes with me almost everywhere ... or in the car at least. Truth is, I've DESTROYED tougher jackets, and until you decide to take care of your investments, no garment will last. Don't be afraid to give this jacket a shot, after all, it's a classic.

Quick Deliv. and Great Product

By:
January 12, 2005

I received my order in only a few days. Of course it is North Face Gear, so it is GREAT!
The box and bow were a nice touch. My dad loved his gift and I bought him the matching pants for fathers day earlier last year. Now his outfit is complete.
The color is great, neutral but nice. and the durability and warmth can't be beat.

What a great Parka

By:
September 28, 2004

I bought this parka for my husband as an anniversary gift. We live in Washington state and it dumps rain here :) anyways I asked my husband how he liked his jacket and he said "It's awesome nothing gets through it, I was in the rain most of the day yesterday and did not get wet at all" Thanks for such a great product.

The North Face experience.

By:
November 19, 2004

I have had a North Face Mountain light jacket for 12 years and grew out of it. I finally bought a new one a it performs as flawlessly as the first. Great store and good selection. I was told by another store that they couldn't get what I ordered went on to the North face site and found you. Thanks for the great service.

Great parka

By:
January 17, 2005

The mtn light parka is a great parka. It is light, easy to layer and works well in the temperatures I have been outside in so far (+2F to 45F, wind/snow/rain/shine) the past three weeks. It is worth it.

Great Shopping, Great Product

By:
January 20, 2005

Moved from Houston, Texas to the heart of Switzerland, and needed new gear designed for this radically different environment. The Mountain Light Parka works great for every season where a light and versatile outer shell is required. Whether as a light jacket on a cool and windy fall day, or facing the snow at and ice at 9,000 ft., this jacket has proved itself again and again. For the latter conditions, I zip a TNF Quantum Nuptse into the Mt. Lt. Parka, and can face the elements without fear. The length is perfect for good protection, but not so long as to get in the way when pursuing winter activities. I do wish it had a powder skirt, but I suppose one can't have everything...! A solid, high quality TNF product.

Good stuff

By:

Very good jacket, I don't even need the fleece when it's 20 degrees outside, keeps me really warm, though the sleeves could be better designed.

Mountain Light Order

By:
February 7, 2005

I ordered a North Face Mountain Light parka last month. It fits awesome and I've already put it through the ringer in some great storms and I have yet to get wet. The last North Face jacket I had lasted me for 10 years of use and was still going strong when I decided to upgrade. I am looking forward to the next 10 years and more with this one.

Mountain Light Parka

By:
January 26, 2005

This is a great jacket for the price. I have gotten a $500 jacket and not had it last as long. With 2 layer Gore-Tex it is plenty.
It is light and tough enough to handle your needs well; it did for me at least.

wow! this is the best

By:

Ordered this as an exchange for the Varius jacket, the Mountain Light Jacket is awesome. Nice fit and finish, it’s good looking and very comfortable. Got it in Vermont just in time for two weeks of heavy rain and wind blowing the rain horizontal at times. Wore it every day and never got wet. Vents are handy when temps climb to the 50s and 60s in an hour or two. Plan on using it skiing as a shell with layers should keep me warm even below zero. I would not hesitate to recommend this coat to anyone.

Nice All Around Parka A+++

By:
October 19, 2005

It is true that you get what you pay for. This is a nice parka with lots of flexibility. Too bad you have to buy separately the "inside garment," like a Denali fleece, etc., which zippers in inside the parka. Still one of the nicest parkas around!

Changes (some for better, some for wrose)

By:
December 15, 2005

I've used The North Face stuff for quite a while. My last Mountain Light lasted nearly 12 years. Being very happy with my previous, I decided to get yet another one. All in all it is a great jacket, and I expect to get the same life out of it. However, The North Face apparently changed the zipper, so now none of my other jackets/vests/etc zip in. In general, I do not zip in other layers when I'm skiing, hiking, etc. Though, it is helpful from time to time so as not have to keep up with two items. Passing through airports is a good example. I verified the new North Face fleece do zip in, but not the old. Also, I find the zippers for the pockets to catch on inner liner material quite a lot. This actually tore one small section of the inner pocket when pulled quickly while skiing this past weekend. It is a great product, but I may think about Mountain Hardwear more next time.
