Hi! I am concidering this or the North Face Arctic Jacket for my 9 year old, and would like to know the weight of the Metropolis? Also which one you product experts would recommend when I am looking for a warm parka that can take the rough school use but still be nice when going to the movies, and . It must be rough enough for taking backpacks on and off, take some playing, etc. but still be nice and light to move around in. Maye alot to ask, but I just have to ask.

It can be machine washed - use a down safe detergent, they are much more mild and don't strip down's natural oils as quickly. This jacket just came in for the fall 2009 season, so I would not expect it to go on sale until after Christmas.
