The North Face Megamouth 18 Hydration Pack - 1100cu in - 2005

The North Face Megamouth 18 is a large-volume hydration pack for full day-hikes and extended rides that require extra layers, food, and water. There's nothing worse than reaching the farthest point of your hike only to have the weather turn sour. Ok, there is something worse than that—not having the rain gear or extra layers to protect yourself from the wrath of Mother Nature. Give yourself plenty of room for everything you need with the Megamouth Hydration Pack. The perforated foam back panel keeps you cool and dry, as will the Airmesh shoulder harness. A 100oz Nalgene bladder keeps you hydrated and multiple pockets keep you fully stocked and organized.

Bottom Line: Don't get caught 20 miles out and unprepared, pack up the Megamouth Hydration Pack and go.

Good, but small

By:
February 19, 2007

I bought this for an upcoming ski trip. Thought it would work well. I expected a normal size backpack, but its smaller. I am not complaining cause it will work well for skiing and hiking etc, but not big enough to carry to class. I really like the whistle that is on the chest buckle. The hydro bladder looks to be of high quality too. The only thing i can complain about is the bite valve does not have a cover to keep debris off like some new CamelBaks do.

Great pack for cycling and skiing

By:
October 20, 2005

I was looking for a pack that was small enough to be practical on a ski lift, but large enough to carry spare fleece, gaiter, water, etc. This pack can appear to be really small, or it can be expanded to carry something large like a full size digital SLR camera. The hydration feature was another plus.

Megamouth good for the thirsty, bad for big guys

By:

The Megamouth has a lot of great features, plenty of water capacity and very nice organizer pockets, but the harness is too small for me (I'm a 48 regular and wear XL shirts). I'll have to keep looking.

Nice pack

By:

I bought the Megamouth 18 after owning the Dogfish hydration pack. Both are very well made and come with a lot of nice pockets for small easy to access gear. They feel like you are wearing nothing and worked very well on my trips to Cancun. The backrests breathe very well even in 90F shirtless weather. They make awesome beach bags and fit a towel and everything else needed for a day at the beach. I use mine without the bladders a lot just as small daypacks and they are awesome. Highly recommended. I do like the way the Dogfish is V-cut whereas the Megamouth is just square. That’s my only problem. Great pack though.
