The North Face Manta Ray 23 Tent 2-Person 3-Season - 2009

The North Face realized the limitations of standard dome-style tents and went back to the drawing board to create the Manta Ray 23. A unique T-shaped floor creates more internal and external covered gear storage, so you don’t have to worry about your boots getting soaked in the rain at night. Dual doors and vestibules allow you and your backpacking partner to get in and out easily. The North Face added color-coded poles and quick clips to help you get this tent set up in no time at all and get out of the weather.

Bottom Line: Domes are a thing of the past.

This tent does not pack well; it’s large and is trying too hard to be different. There is nothing wrong with a simple design that is light and has a small stuff size. Also the fabric that North Face is using now seems to be cheaper and rips real easy. For a good North Face tent you have to pay $400 plus. I recommend the comparable Kelty Teton, which has a smaller stuff size, is light weight and has a more sturdy fabric.
