The North Face Mammatus Bib - Men's

Weather doesn't wait until you're off the climb to roll over the mountains. Pull on The North Face Men's Mammatus Bib and climb through the nastiest conditions. The three-layer Gore-Tex Pro Shell fabric blocks the elements, and the performance fit follows your every move. Zip open the side leg vents on these chest-height bibs when you need to cool off, and adjust the suspenders for a custom fit. The attached gaiters keeps ice and rocks out of your boots, and a Keprotec ankle kick patch stops crampons and rocks from tearing up the fabric.

Bottom Line: Epic climbs, epic conditions, epic outerwear.

Best bib I have used

I have been a softshell pant guy for the last few years, but I have to say I am very happy to be back in a Gore pant. The ventilation is excellent, and the breathability of the fabric itself is excellent. The softshell upper on the pant is the clincher - you get the added snow protection without overheating. One of the few pieces that I have ever owned that I would not change a thing on.

Any opinions on the new Drop seat on the Mammatus bib compared

Any opinions on the new Drop seat on the Mammatus bib compared with the older model (Modulus bibb?)? Looks like the new zipper has some limitations if you need to use the back door while climbing. The zipper on the older model could be opened all the way, the new one has tree sections. Two down the legs and one on the back.

I agree. The three section zip is easier to use than a continuous zip because the angle of the zipper is easier to open and close. I have used the drop seat on this pant and it works great.

My brother just got the new mammutus pants and he said he liked the drop seat on the pants and found it easy to access. And overall he is very happy with the pants.

I like!

I have been using these pants for ski touring, and ski mountaineering!
They are light so they pack well in your pack.
They work well for inbounds skiing to,but a little thin when you are riding the chairlift!

You would be better off with the free thinker pant for really cold inbound skiing days!

i have done everything from skiing to ice climbing in these and i love them. they're comfy, just roomy enough and aren't too warm for a bib.

I own last year's version of these, the Modulus Bib, and use it for skiing exclusively. In fact, as an instructor, I'm often in them 8 hours a day. They work wonders, I stay bone dry, and due to them being a bib, your kidneys stay toasty on those truly icy days. Not a baggy fit at all, but definitely room underneath for up to expedition weight tights.

SWEET BIB

By:
February 2, 2009

After shopping around for a backcountry bib I bought these. What sold me was how soft the material is for a gore tex pro shell. I have done some hiking and ski touring in these and they have been perfect. Anything in the north face summit series to me is still top notch.
