The North Face Ion 20 Backpack - 1200cu in
The North Face Ion 20 Backpack's slim, aerodynamic shape lends itself to trail running and day hikes, but this pack also comes with a padded laptop sleeve for running from class to class. You can take the Ion 20 Backpack to algebra, then ditch your computer at the dorm, swap it with a hydration system, and hit the trails for the afternoon. The North Face's ExoLite back panel and dual-density Airmesh shoulder straps keep air moving and ensure you don't overheat in the middle of the summer.
Bottom Line: Running to class or running your local trails? Bring along The North Face Ion 20 Backpack.

Fantastic pack! It doesn't weigh a thing, but the material is tough and sturdy. I use this for class and dayhikes, the hydration pocket fits my 12" laptop like a glove. The back panel is stiff enough that you don't feel your bag's contents jamming into your spine, but pliable enough that you're not hiking with a 2x8 strapped to your back. Plus the ventilation has never let me down, even on 12-hour summer ascents. As far as school, I can fit a computer, two texts and two 3-subject notebooks with room for a shirt or rainjacket. The front vertical pocket stretches outward, which is nice for surprise carry-ons or a water bottle. The waiststrap is substantial, and very comfortable for long, heavier treks. The provided raincover leaves you prepared for anything, even though access to the bag's contents is extremely restricted with it attached, but this is to be expected. I got caught in a downpour in Glacier National, and the pack kept everything dry for the 3 hours it took me to get out. Saved my camera!
Change me.
