The North Face Insulated Varius Guide Jacket - Women's
When it’s a chilly, snowy day, The North Face Women’s Insulated Varius Guide Jacket provides synthetic insulation so you stay cozy at the top of the ski run. When it’s sunny out, Underarm zips and a removable hood help you cool off and reduce this jacket’s bulk in back. The North Face uses waterproof breathable HyVent fabric and fully taped seams to make sure you stay dry all season long, and the Varius Jacket’s powder skirt acts as a bomber defense mechanism when you float through waist-deep powder.
I ordered the black one and it looked really nice in picture, but when i got it, it was extremely dirty, as if it has been in the warehouse without a cover for 10 years. The fabric caught dirt really easy and the part I don't like is that this material is so hard that when i put it on, it feels like i'm wearing an armor. It keeps you warm in a chilly spring morning though.
I'm 5'10" and about 140 lbs - and always have troubles finding jackets with long enough arms. Well, I ordered a large and the arms are in fact long enough without the rest of the jacket being too bulky. It's warm and looks great - I've gotten lots of compliments.
I live in VA and right now its cold like 30 degrees this may be a good jacket 40 degree weather but 60 you may be hot. I would say get the the non insulated.
I ordered this coat on wed I was in need of a real coat. My old baby phat coat zipper broke so I needed to upgrade.. Im the person who buys a new coat every two years i dont see it happening with this coat. I was tired of being cold with dumb bomber jackets . This coat covers my booty perfect and that's good cause i have a big one lol. I am 5'5" and about 160 pounds. THe sleeves are long enough I have enough space. I think i may have bought a size too big. I got a extra large in fear a Large would be small. XL is big but yet very comfortable. The price was great I think I will buy one more before the sale ends cant beat the prices. Its like buying two coats for the price of one expensive north face coat! The shipping was fast I got to track the order which is good I knew when it was coming. I recommend this coat i dont ski but now i just might go cause i have the perfect attire now lol. Thanks Backcountry!!!
I'm 5'5 around 130 lbs, and I also have a hard time with jackets long enough for my arms as well as my torso (I guess I have a long one?). This jacket is perfect! When you think of insulated, you immediately think bulky and big, this one is surprisingly thin, yet still warm enough for the 20* weather we have in New England today. The big test will be my road trip with hubby and the dogs to Wisconsin for xMas... I'll write to let you know how it went-- but Im thinking it will be wonderful! I thought this jacket would have zip-in capability, so I'm a little bummed it doesnt, but it really is warm enough that I don't think I'll need to. ps: this site offers GREAT pricing on this jacket as well!
Any of The North Face baselayers, fleece jackets, or insulated jackets that have "zip-in compatible" in the product description are thereby compatible with TheNorthFace outershells.
What is the temperature rating on this jacket? Am I likely to be warm or cold wearing this jacket with a sweater & turtleneck with wind chills around zero to 10 degrees?
It's an elastic, snap- or velcro-fastened internal hem that goes tight around your waist to keep snow from coming up into your jacket in super deep snow or if you crash.
