The North Face Ingrid Backpack - Women's - 1460cu in - 2008
The North Face Women's Ingrid Backpack has a roomy main compartment for layers and lunch and a padded sleeve to hold your laptop during your cross-town commutes. The North Face made the Ingrid's shoulder straps and back panel to fit your body, so you'll be super comfortable as you run to catch the light rail or pedal across campus. A large organizer pocket holds pens, keys, PDA, cell, and other small necessities, and water bottle pockets hold your liquid sustenance. Should you decide to take a quick hike after work or class, this daypack holds your rain jacket and energy bars.
I posted the original comment about the sleeve not being padded. It is not. Ignore what most websites say about the laptop sleeve! Like I said, my friend HAS this daypack and there is no padding in the sleeve itself, just on the back panel of the pack. I have a North Face Recon pack which has a nicely designed, padded laptop sleeve (standard on the larger daypacks) but the Ingrid lacks this.
If it is anything like my north face recon pack, the sleeve is very minimally padded on the inside, where you probably don't need all that much protection. The sleeve feels like a very thin piece of foam (almost paper thin) is between the nylon, definitely not just sheer material. On on the outside, you have the padding along your back that protects the other side of the laptop.
My friend has this backpack, but the laptop sleeve is NOT padded (otherwise, the pack is great). Did anyone else notice this? Every description I find for this pack online says the laptop sleeve is padded.
Great medium-sized bag! There's a pocket inside for a laptop. With the computer, there's still room for a notebook or two or whatever else you might want to put in there. The front pocket is deeper than it looks and holds a lot on its own. It has lots of differently sized pockets for your cell phone, computer adaptor, ipod, etc. The pockets on the side are great for a water bottle or umbrella. The bag is very comfortable to wear. I would buy it again.
The photo makes it look small, but 1460cu inches is plenty big enough for most people. You should easily be able to fit your laptop(depending on screen size) and a few books/notebooks water bottle and anything else small you may need.
