Thanks to lightweight, durable, quick-drying ripstop nylon material, The North Face Women's Horizon Utility Skirt takes on a day hike as easily as a mellow afternoon in the park. An internal cord lets you tie on the Horizon Utility Skirt in seconds, and The North Face added belt loops so you can dress it up a bit. With two front, two rear, and one cargo pocket, this skirt holds your wallet, keys, and other small necessities, so you don't have to carry a bag everywhere.
Bottom Line: Pull on The North Face Horizon Utility Skirt for your next day in the sun.
This is a great skirt and runs true to size. I sized up so that I could "paper bag" the waist. I love that look and the self tie makes it really easy. You put it on and never have to adjust or fuss with the fit. The pockets are great, too. All your stuff fits in the pockets, too, eliminating the need to carry a purse. This is a "hands free" skirt.
I was so excited when these skirts (tan and black)arrived that I decided to do a quick iron and put on the beige one for an evening out...the iron was too hot and I burnt a hole right in the middle of the tan skirt...nylon!!! No worries, I had another one, so I wore the black one and reordered the tan one! I wear these skirts for everything, hiking, work, casual night out... you name it! They are truly wash and wear skirts!!!
I love wearing this skirt on those days when I'd rather be on the mountain than at my desk. Somehow, it just does the trick. I've also worn this while traveling, playing frisbee golf, and hiking. The length is good for me, just at the knee, so it feels modest without being cumbersome.
I have this skirt and the Mountain Hardwear La Rambla skirt. The MH skirt is a bit more girly and flouncy and better for a night out. It's just sexier.
I love the Northface Utility skirt because the pockets are far more usable. If NF could do the cool soft waistband like the Rambla skirt has, it would totally rock. Both skirts are great. The MH is more stylish. The NF is far more practical.
I wear both with boy shorts. Far better for privacy if you need to duck into the woods while hiking with the boys. Skorts are fine, but I think actual skirts with a pair of boy shorts underneath is a better camping/hiking solution.
I also like the skirts for throwing on over my thermal underwear after kayaking (after removing the Kokatat dry suit). Also great to toss in the bike pannier after a day on the road. A skirt over the bike shorts makes me feel a lot more comfortable walking into restaurants (even if I stink).
This skirt was one of my staples on a recent trip. I love how light it feels which helped me keep cool in hot and humid weather. The pockets were a bonus.
I only wish that I had bought a smaller size. I bought a size 10, but I'm pretty sure the 8 would have been a better fit. I think they may run a little large.
