The North Face Helicon jacket is designed for women who find their muses in the mountains. It's loaded with features that make every day you spend on the snow as productive as possible. Stretchy seam sealed waterproof HyVent fabrics move with you from shouldering your skis to hike Baldy to reaching back for a tail grab in the park. HyVent stretch canvas on the shoulders protects the Helicon from ski edges and backpack straps. 80g of ultrasonic insulining and a detachable hood provide warmth on crisp bluebird powder days, and the rotated core vents let you cool down after you've bombed through a few laps. A powder skirt, goggle pocket, and media pocket add the additional comforts and conveniences a true artist needs to express herself on the slopes.
Bottom Line: Find your mountain muse in the Helicon, and take your creativity to new levels.
Seriously, this jacket has pockets for absolutely everything. For as much insulation as this jacket has, it is still fitted and "cute". I think it runs a little on the small side, so if you really want to layer underneath, though it is probably unnecessary, consider the next size up. (I am 5"0, 110 lbs)
The jacket had great pockets, but I just didn't really like the stiffness and how it makes you look really big. Otherwise, it would have been a great jacket.
Oh my! A pocket hunter's dream come true! Gals, if you like carrying the kitchen sink with you, I swear this jacket has a pocket for it! The info provided on the site list doesn't even come close to mentioning them all and they have been designed to function well. There's a place for my wallet, ski ties, camera, lip balm, goggles, cell phone, iPod, "necessities", and I still have room for more. Wow! Do note it isn't hydration compatible but again, if you can sew, it can be done without ruining the waterproofing. I wasn't looking to buy an insulated jacket and this one does have one drawback. The pit zips are too tiny. In fact they're teeny-tiny. I overheat rapidly and I'm afraid they will not be sufficient. OK, I do have a couple of other minor complaints. I'm sick of storm flaps. Take a lesson from Orage, magnets rock and are worth their weight, and more, in ruined sweater fuzz. Also, I'm tired of being a billboard. I realize I am being picky, and for the most part I am thrilled with this jacket! I almost never say this: this jacket is worth the price, and not many jackets are. As for the fit, a bit more boxy then some of their more girlie jackets. For me this is very good as so many jackets are too long and narrow for my short, curvy figure. Now when I raise and lower my arms my jacket doesn't get stuck up around my ribs and it is long enough to cover my backside. It is also soft and flexible.
This jacket is awesome, it keeps me super warm and has pockets for anything you could possibly carry. I used to carry a backpack for my Cat Tracks (for my ski boots), water, an extra hat, my iPod, ski-key, and food, but now I don't need to! I love the goggle chamois cloth, its fixed in so you always know where it is, and the insulation keeps me super warm when Im skiing in the Northeast.
The Helicon Jacket's many pockets are a huge convenience. The lower arm zip and the inside cell phone and iPod stash spots give everything a place to go. An inside insulated layer keeps you nice and toasty and the vent zips are a great option when the weather is mild.
