The North Face Greenland for Girls provides the best warmth and weather protection you can get. A HyVent outer shell is completely waterproof, laughing off heavy snows and downpours. The 550 fill down is the warmest and lightest insulation to be had. The combination of the two makes the Greenland super warm, lightweight and completely weatherproof. A removable fur trim around the hood catches errant snowflakes and provides added heat retention, and the hood is fully insulated with the same down as the jacket for maximum warmth.
After I saw other reviews about buying the jacket in kids size I decided to to the same because of my size and the jacket fits perfect ! Shipping was 7-14 days free shipping but it only took 5, I can't be more satisfied :-) Thank you Backcountry.com !!!
Write your question here...Just wondering low in temperature this jacket will sustain. My son and family are living in inland Alaska - need really good protection against the extremely cold temperaatures.
Everything is great about this jacket. I think the jacket runs a little small. My daughter is 12 and petite for her age. I bought a size L thinking that it would be a little big, but it fits her perfect.
I am about your size and just received the girls XL and it fits perfect :-). I think the L would be to small. Just bought a North Face jacket L for my kid, it almost fits me but the sleeves are too short.
Life in the Netherlands is Windy, Wet and Cold. This jacket has performed well this winter but it's not perfect.
Cons: Children's jackets have no drawstring on the hood, so in windy conditions it blows right off. They rarely use the hood since it's usually rainy AND windy at the same time. The zip goes all the way up over the chin but my 8 & 6 yrs. old daughters don't like it. Jacket is warm but left them feeling chilled on days below 40 degree F (4C)...winds 15mph+ (24 KpH). Even though label says it can be machine washed on delicate, the down did not hold up in the wash...Machine washing is NOT recommended.
Pros: Waterproof factor is excellent but after continual use for 6 months straight I've noticed a little bleeding on the external side of the fabric. Even so, it's still dry on the inside. The Length is good...falls just at the hip. Longer than many jackets but not cumbersome like the knee length jackets.
Overall, this jacket can be worn in temps. 50-57F(14C-10C) and 40-49F(9C-4C) comfortably without extra layers. It's too warm for 58F-60F and too cool for the 30-39F(4C-0C) with wind. Waterproof is good. Hood not good. Recommend Dry Cleaning only.
Write your question here...My daughter is almost 9 yrs.old and is wearing about a 12/14. She is a little pudgy and not sure what size to order. Not exactly sure about her height & weight. She's probably a little above average for her age. Should I order a L or X-L?
Size L Sleeve length (measured from center back): 30.5". Center back length is 27"(this is a longer style). Size XL has a 28" sleeve and a 28" back length.
I'd go with XL, if anything just for added length and movement.
I love my jacket! I am 5'2 and petite. This jacket works great for me. Originally I purchased an XL which was too big. I ended up returning it for a L which fits perfectly!
I just got my jacket and it's perfect! I am so excited it fits great! I am 5'4" and weigh 115 and am 38 years old. I took Daniel's advise and got the XL. I am thrilled to buy the girls (cheaper) jacket and love it!
I am 5'4" and weigh about 115. I have noticed several women buying this jacket. I just can't decide between the L or XL in the girls. What do you think?
My daughter needed a warm coat. Being a little picky about what she wears, it's always a challenge to get something she likes. She really likes this one! I must say this is one of the nicest coats I've ever bought her. It's not too "puffy", with excellent free-range of motion for an active child and very warm. An excellent coat with excellent response time and service. Thank you!!
My teenage daughter is so happy with this jacket. It is a little longer and very flattering. She gets lots of compliments whenever she wears it- that's unusual for 8th grade!
This jacket is very warm and very flatering on. It doesn't poof out like some down jackets making you look huge. I bought this jacket for my teen daughter who wears a size 4. We ordered the large girls and it fit great.
I'm a 5'4, 125lb woman, and I bought The North Face Greenland Girl's Jacket in an XL. It fit great (was even a tiny bit big). The jacket is very warm, and the shell resists water/snow quite well. The hood kind of sucks (doesn't stay up).
I brought this jacket for my 13yr old daughter, after 2 returns on kids xl and wmns sml finally my daughter fit the size wmns med. comfortably. The jacket defiantly runs sml so I would recommend going the next 2 sizes. For the price you want to have the jacket @ least 2-3 yrs. After wearing it to school my daughter says she found it to be fashionable, comfortable and it keeps her very toasty...
I bought this as a christmas present for my 25 year old girlfriend and she absolutely loves it.I did a little rersearch and found that the girls size XL would be the perfect fit for her and it came in pink-her favorite color. Her friends and co-workers give her lots of compliments on it and she loves the stylish belt and fur hood.A great choice for women under 5'5 and below 130 lbs it's less expensive then the woman's coat and comes in a color the woman's coat doesn't-pink-lemonade.It keeps her very warm even if she's wearing short-sleeves she highly recommends The Northface Greenland jacket for both style and functionality.
Waterproof, breatheable, warm and stylish. This coat is brilliant in every way. The adjustable belt is great for customizing any person's body shape, and rules out the usual puffiness that most winter jackets have. The optional gray faux fur of the hood is an extra appeal, and will allow you to be warm in the coldest of blizzards. I've found that both rain or snow just disappears when it touches the jacket, so there is no need to worry about inclement weather. The two zip-side pockets are lined with a fleece-like material, which can substitute a pair of gloves. The inside of the jacket has two compartments -- one for your cellphone or MP3 player, and the other a deep zip pocket large enough to hold three wallets! With this, you will never misplace your car keys or valuables again. If you are a petite woman around five feet or so, a girl's Large will fit perfectly. Greenland -- the only winter jacket you will ever need!
Whoever reviewed this jacket as a good fit for petite women, she was right on. I used to pass up The North Face, because the "adult" lines were too large. Jacket attracts dust like no tomorrow, but is sweetly toasty for skiing in subzero and hanging out non-aerobically at ice rinks with all the right pockets. I liked the stylish buckle at the waist, which is why I order this to begin with, was a little disappointed that the buckle was molded plastic, but when I put on my regular skiing jacket for zooming down the slopes, all the stuff in my pockets that weighs it down makes me appreciate shaving off that extra bit of weight with a change of material. The whole package overall is quite, quite functional and styling.
I am a petite woman and the Girls XL is a perfect fit. Very flattering and comfortable. Fur trim on hood sits a bit low on the forehead but at least will be able to remove if it gets in the way (but I do like that it keeps my face warm!).
Very stylish and warm. Although, we haven't had it long enough to test it out in really cold temps yet. Do wish the hood would stay on better. Fits her nicely. She is sz 12/14 and the L fits nice.
North Face always makes good quality items and this is no different. I bought a medium for my 4 and a half year old. It fits nicely and will last for a few years. It was well worth the money.
