The wind-resistant, water-repellent The North Face Men's Geosphere Jacket helps you stay warm when you when you play outdoors in less than ideal weather. The attached, adjustable hood protects you from ear-biting wind and stinging rain. The North Face gave this windbreaker a mesh lining that wicks sweat to eliminate that clammy feeling at the end of a long day. Use the hem cinchcord to stop cold blasts from moving up your jacket, and pack the Geosphere into its left pocket when the weather improves.
Bottom Line: Don't let a little bad weather keep you from exploring.
My son took this jacket on his international boy scout, high adventure camp in Switzerland. He was gone two weeks and used this every day, it was July and the weather was changeable, they had a LOT of rain, he stayed dry! They did a two night/day and then a 3 night/day hike, climbed a glacier and he stayed warm, he did wear a sweatshirt underneath for this part of the trip. The jacket was amazing, I'm so glad we chose it over others we looked at. My only suggestion, if they changed the design a little, would be to make it a couple of inches longer.
This jacket is perfect. It is lightweight and isn't restrictive. It is water-proof and wind-proof. Also it is a very warm jacket and packs up small. I give it 5 stars.
hello, is the geosphere jacket breathable? i did not read anything that says its breathable. i saw the jacket in a site here in the philippines. its within my price range and im thinking of buying it but considering i live in a tropical country i fear that i would sweat like a pig when the jacket is on. so how breathable is this jacket or not so breathable? thank you
This jacket is a waste of your money. First of all the hood never stays in place, can not be stored and does not adjust. Secondly, Why not spend the money on either a windshirt or a true waterproof jacket? This thing wetted out in a light rain...on a day hike. Would never consider bringing this on a overnight trip. Also, it is my opinion that The North Face has been catering to the yuppie, wannabe crowd and honestly their stuff does not fit....period. Save your cash there a many other brands and options to choose from. What ever happened to the old thenorthface?
Nope this jacket is not waterproof like the resolve, it is a great wind jacket. I would buy the resolve or venture if you are looking for a lightweight waterproof jacket.
Ok, the Geosphere Jacket is one of the best gears I have bought so far. Pretty light, protects from wind fairly well and when it rains, you would have to be exposed to if for quite a while before you start feeling some of the water inside. If you are wearing layers, then its not a problem, the few drops would stay there. In other words, I would say its a very good windproof jacket, but not a hardcore waterproof jacket; it protects fairly well from rain.
When hiking (or doing some physical activity), the jacket tends to warm you up fairly well, even to the point of making you sweat in moderate to warmer temperatures. By some, this could be taken as a pro, and by others as a con. I have been at around 40 50 ºF wearing nothing but a t-shirt and this light jacket pretty comfortable! In warm weather, some might not like their windproof jacket to make them sweat when hiking.
Its a very good item, depending on what use you will give to this jacket. I think its pretty versatile; you can use it in different weather conditions (for my taste, maybe not for exercising in warm weather), light, and good looking. Personally, I love it.
I wish it was a little longer so that it went past my waist. I really love the jacket overall though. I really like the service and communication of this site.
Born and raised in Newfoundland, I've seen my share of rain and fog. Since the purchase of my North Face Geosphere Jacket, I now look forward in the wet and damp weather. At least now I can say that I'm staying dry on the Rock!
The jacket performance is just awesome. I take jacket every where with me from going out with friends to backpacking the Sierra Nevada to Snowboarding to office. It lightweight, wind resistant, repel water, keep you warm and the cool for a great price! Highly recommend!
Hey Won,Welcome to a little piece of the beauty of Backcountry.com! Prices are great and the service is even better.looks like they're out of size small in black right now. The best thing to do is jump on "live chat" and work with those folks. They'll be able to look up if there are any more on order, and if so they can give you an approximate arrival date.
I recently purchased this great jacket and absolutely love it. It's lightweight, it's water- and windproof. What more do you need? I always keep it with me because you never can truly trust the weatherman...
This jacket is great for windy days and light rain. Pros - Lightweight, looks great, and is very wind/water-resistant. Cons - Fits shorter than I'd like, doesn't vent that well, and the hood doesn't adjust perfectly. For the price, it's a great jacket for limited exposure to wind and rain.
I purchased 2 of these jackets. We love them. They are lightweight, flexible & warm all in one. I received the best on line order & delivery ever thank you
I'm quite happy with this jacket, particularly at the price. It's nice and light, but not flimsy, and has continually kept the wind and rain out. It is also constructed quite well, i.e., stitching, zippers, feel, etc. Keep in mind, it's a fairly light jacket and not lined; works great alone on warmer days, or with a layer (or two) underneath on the chilly ones. Definitely recommended.
I just got my jacket and I stepped outside...I was the same temperature as I was when I was inside. Keeps your cool in hot places, keeps you hot in cold places. A must buy, I highly recommend it.
You've got some damn mild winters, my friend. The answer is yes, this jacket will be fine, probably down to about 35, though you might want to throw a fleece on underneath depending on your taste.
One of the reasons I bought the Geoshpere was because you are supposed to be able to stow the hood away. No way to do it. Disappointed and unhappy with the jacket.
Never had a decent rain/wind jacket designed for more than just sports and this jacket is awesome. Feels great when its on and I just happened to be lucky enough to have a rainstorm the day it was delivered. I stepped outside with good wind and plenty of rain and only my legs and feet got wet at all. The water came off the jacket with a few shakes and I was excited about the performance in those conditions. I recommend it to anyone who wants a warm/cool temperature all-weather jacket that's not too heavy and still looks great. I'd buy it again, especially for the price.
Awesome jacket provides a nice layer for changing climate conditions. I started out on a hike with sun and ended up with a breeze and freezing rain and this jacket provided good temperature control and also kept me perfectly dry. I recommend it for sure.
I tried one of these on at REI the other day. it was not to short for me, I tend to be a little long in the torso as well. fit like any other jacket to me.
Probably the best jacket I have ever owned. Keeps me warm when its cold and is not too hot when it warms up a little. I have only had i for a few weeks and have yet to run into any issues. Its comfortable, warm and looks great.
I received this product after 7 days. Which i thought was pretty good. How ever the jacket i got didn't exactly match with he picture shown on the site, the difference is it doesn't include the north face emblem zipper but instead it has a different emblem zipper. like the one shown in the picture, also the north face words on the jacket was gray not white.
Well i needed a jacket Asap so this was doable at the time. However this jacket is good only for spring and rainy weather but it wasn't what i was looking for.Better pictures will do for next time but in the end i am a loyal north face jacket user.
i was surprised when i wore the jacket for the first time...it was very comfortable to have it on and the fabric looks nice with any kind of want you have on.
This Jacket is Great. Lightweight and comfortable. Does its job wonderfully. Wind and Waterproof, packs easily. My husband is 5'10 tall and he ordered XL in Zinc Grey. It fits excellent. So there are the actual measurements for sz XL: armpit to armpit - 26"; length - 29 1/2"; sleeve from armpit to the hem - 24".
great wind and rain repellent. Fits nice and the service from this site was great. The only complaint is the hood. It would be nice if it could be tightened or adjusted.
Purchased this item and it was more than I had expected. It was extremely comfortable and just like others have said, it kept me warm and dry. Living in Seattle, I know the importance of products that keep you warm and dry. It has surpassed all the tests and it looks really nice as well. There's not much I can say against it. I hope the logo doesn't begin to fade after I wash it, but other than that, quality product. It will not keep you warm in frigid weather, but it is a good light jacket. You will be satisfied.
This jacket is great! I was kind of skeptical at first because it was so cheap, but is really sturdy. It keeps you warm and dry and it's pretty lightweight as well. Only thing is i had to return it to get a bigger size, i'm 6'4 and while an XL was great length in the sleeves, it didn't come down long enough, but the XXL was perfect!
No comments. NF jackets don't need words... Need work, and i was outside doing my job... with a lot of weather coming down... When i come inside to check my emails i receive a mail asking me about my gear... What I can say: "My note still dry..."... and frogs still outside... This is my gear.
