The North Face Freedom Insulated Pant - Men's

Ski the mountain wrapped in the waterproof, eco-friendly warmth of The North Face Men’s Freedom Insulated Pant. These ski pants have articulated knees and a Free Fit so you’ll get to make your turns with flexibility and casual style. The Freedom Insulated Pant has fully taped seams to shore up the HyVent shell and protect you from moisture, and the new Heatseeker Eco insulation will keep you warm while lowering your carbon-footprint at the same time. Wear these with your Pant-a-lock compatible The North Face jacket to create an impenetrable barrier against powder invasion.

Bottom Line: Enjoy the freedom of spending a full day on the mountain in moisture-free warmth.

Dry Slope snowboarding review

By:
September 28, 2009

This review probably wont be useful for anyone who has the benefit of riding in snow whenever they want really, but I've spent around 20 hours in these pants so far on the dry slopes in the UK which is a harsh environment, and so far these pants are still looking brand new. I was a bit concerned about the durability of these pants as they aren't really aimed at this sort of use I thought, but I needed one pant that I could use on the mountain and training on the snowflex and I'm very impressed. They're probably a bit too warm for dry slope use this early in Autumn, but with the leg vents always zipped open I'm happy enough. They fit great for snowboarders, even dare I say it, slightly trendy. I got the girlfriend a pair at the same time and she loves just wearing them because of the fit. She's a 26 waist, and I bought her a size Small in the women's version, but really next time I buy these ( we want them in red) I'll buy her the extra small as the waist is a little bit big on her, not that she seems to care. My waist is a 33 at the moment, and I went for a Medium which is just perfect. There are velcro straps to tighten them so they would snugly fit a 32 or 31 as well. If I was a 30 waist, I'd also go for these and just do the velcro right up.There are the usual zipped pockets, the right hand side one having an interior leash for keys or w/e you wish, and there's a large cargo stuff pocket which is great for sticking your beanie in when you're too warm.As these are a bit too warm for this time of year in our UK conditions, I'd definitely recommend these for colder weather.

Not sure what I am looking for when it comes to insulation...

Not sure what I am looking for when it comes to insulation... I am looking to buy these pants (or others) to go skiing in Colorado in March. I know sometimes it can be cold if a storm is dumping snow but i've also heard the of people skiing in their t-shirts. Will these pants be too hot? Any other recommendations?

I've been skiing in Colorado for the past six years, and what you say is true. I've seen 15-degree blizzards and 35-degree bluebird days on consecutive days. My strategy was to get the non-insulated Freedom pant from North Face, and then on hot days I wear no long underwear and keep the side vents open. On cold days, wear more insulation and keep the vents closed. My thought was that you can never wear less insulation than what's built into the pants, so I decided I wanted more freedom to regulate temperature.

Great Inbounds Ski Pants

By:
August 11, 2009

Got these for the inbounds ski days. Nothing fancy, but do a great job. The insulation is toasty, reinforced knees, butt, and edge guards to keep up durability. I really like the outside vents, easy to operate and very effective, works well with the chimney effect TNF implemented in the powder cuff. The elastic waist adjustments keep the pants fitting right without having to use a belt. Pockets are nice and easy to use. A great standard ski pant.

Did wish they would come in a little higher, maybe like a low bib. That would make my day.
