This is certainly an interesting jacket. I can't answer the pocket part, but after reading the north face website (http://tinyurl.com/yjav6cp), this is what I believe how the zippers work: it's got 3 zippers, 1 at the neck to one of the arms on the side (like you see in the picture) - you unzip it to stick your head through. Another 2 zip/unzip from the armpits to the waist. So you unzip all 3 zippers, stick your head through the top, pull the whole thing down, then zip up the top zipper as well as the 2 side zippers from the armpits to the waist. So in other words, it's a pullover.

Not for even the 'slightly tall'

Unfortunately, like many other (but not all!) women's North Face tops/jackets, the length of the Foil....fell short. I am slim and 5'9" and usually want a small (occasionally xs) for width, but the Foil barely made it to my waist. Interesting combo of zippers - it is indeed a pullover. The 3-zipper concept could still be cool and functional if you don't mind pulling it over your head, but unless you're petite or have a shorter-than-average torso, the Foil won't be long enough. (I also wanted it a fraction slimmer). Definitely not giving up on The North Face, just need to try things on first. Liked all the materials and the soft fleece inside the collar. Maybe the M & L are longer?
