The North Face Fire Road Boa Trail Running Shoe - Men's - 2008

A lot of trail runs begin on forest service roads. Sometimes your entire run is along a dirt or gravel road or an ATV trail. Wear The North Face Men's Fire Road Boa Trail Running Shoes for these runs. These lightweight, low-profile running shoes excel on mildly technical topography. To create the Fire Roads, The North Face put together elements of a road shoe, such as flex and responsiveness, with the control and stability you find in a trail shoe. A heel pad cushions and reduces overpronation while the forefoot Snake Plate protects your sole from stone bruising. The lugged outsole moves you over rocky and muddy terrain alike, and Boa lacing makes getting the right fit and snugness as easy as turning a dial.

Bottom Line: The North Face Fire Road Boa Trail Running Shoes are ideal for dirt roads and mellow trails.

What's not to like ! !

By:

I am now on my third Boa Trail Running Shoe. According to my Garmin "Forerunner", I've walked, climbed, hiked and ran more 1800 miles since I started using my Boa shoes. Not bad for an 82 year old ! !

They are BY FAR the best, most comfotable, running shoes I've ever had......in fact they must be the best shoes ANYONE could ever have ! !

I'll be ordering my fourth pair when I've ran another 500 miles....which won't be long ! !

I used the earlier model and loved them so much that I bought these. First of all they don't look all that bad, and secondly they are very soft and good for people with bad feet. I broke my ankle a few years ago and wouldn't be able to run more then a mile without them. The BOA system is perfect for a true runner, you can get them tight and quickly, and they stay that way for a long time. I did break them once playing basketball, but the repair kit was only about 5+shipping. If you aren't running over 10 miles of trail a day, buy these shoes.

Underwhelming

By:
June 24, 2009

The shoes seemed like a great deal, however as someone else mentioned the shoes are clearly running small, even for north face standards, I however chose not to go running with a pair of shoes that were uncomfortably small. They are also very, very ugly shoes equipped with the gimmicky boa system that as others have said, feels like it's going to break on a regular basis.
problems aside, they are comfortable (aside from the short length) and are quite light, however I think I'll be sending these back for a pair of rucky chuckys.

Hello,Dean Karnazes uses TNF trail shoes with the BOA lace system. I'm not saying you should always swallow pro athlete endorsements, but if it is good enough for Dean it should hold up for you.Mahalo, Sumo

BUY IT

By:
May 12, 2008

Bought a pair of the North Face Boa's, and they are tough and VERY light. the soles have positive traction, and the sole also provides maximum ankle support, which I like as I've rolled and sprained my ankles numerous times. If you're looking for a tough, no nonsense shoe, look no further. My shoes are doing well, even for running in the sand here in Iraq.

Good Shoe, Ugly as Hell

By:

I also have a pair of TNF gortex trail runners which I used as a baseline for sizing these. Unfortunately, these are a half-size too small, but you don't really feel it when you've started your run. The shoe has good support, excellent traction (must be the yellow sole), and is easy to cinch down on your foot, but the boa mechanism seems like it might not last as long as the shoe. It occasionally clicks in a way that says "don't mess with me too much, I might just break" and it also pops open a bit easily. I guess that is the price you pay to not have to tie laces. Overall it is a great shoe that breathes well and is comfortable to run almost anything in (through creeks, deep snow, etc.).

My favorite shoe

By:
March 13, 2009

LOVE THEM. The lace system to some would seem like over kill but when you are on the move and looking for a quick adjustment then this is the shoe for you. Breathable, but doesn't get too cold. Tightens nice and the insert feel great. Its very light weight. I run trails in them and even completed the Philadelphia Half Marathon in them. I LOVE THESE SHOES.

Love 'em

By:

These shoes are great. Just got back from my first 5ish miler and these are the fashizle! I have had some problems with other brands like Nike and Mizuno (wave nirvana's). These are the most comfortable shoes that I currently own. They laugh at stones and pebbles and let you concentrate on the path ahead. Excellent ride and would recommend to anyone for any trail running.

On the upper side of the shoe it basically just a mesh lining so your feet never swet! There the most comfortable running shoe I've ever had on. And the boa system on these shoes rock!! You don't have to keep tieing and untieing your shoe all the time!! Well made shoe!!

Pretty good

By:

The shoes is pretty good. Everything else is excellent except the BOA lacing system. It keeps on clicking open when I don't want it. Otherwise, the shoes is good. I ordered my size, but when I wore it, it felt a little small. It may be because it is new. I like the shoes, except the BOA system.
