The North Face Endurus XCR Boa Trail Running Shoe - Men's - 2007
The North Face Men's Endurus XCR Boa Trail Running Shoe gives you lightweight performance for the trail, dirt track, or occasional stretch of road. These highly supportive shoes give you the protection of waterproof breathable Gore-Tex XCR membrane, which will keep your feet dry on sopping wet trails. The North Face virtually eliminated pressure points in the Endurus Trail Shoes with the Boa Lacing System, which employs an easy-to-use dial to tighten and loosen steel-laces. This system lets you make micro-adjustments, won't come loose, and never needs retying. These Flight Series shoes weigh less than two pounds, and they feature Roll Control heel wedges for stability and X-2 O2 forefoot crash pads for comfort.
Bottom Line: The North Face Men's Endurus XCR Boa Trail Running Shoe blends ultra-lightweight technology with pressure-free performance for long-distance comfort.
I have been wearing these shoes for a month now. I love how tight the boa gets and how it applies the pressure uniformly on my foot and not just at the top like laces do. I thought that since the shoes are North Face the quality would be great and the shoes would last a while... but NO luck, they have already broker after 32 days of usage! The part that holds the cable at the toe end of the shoe has already ripped and the shoe no longer fits correctly...
Great shoe, great lace concept, but not ready for prime time. Lasted 6 months before the boa cleat failed. Northface service was awesome and refunded full boat. Hope they make improvements - I'd buy the upgrade.
I bought this shoe about 6 months ago as I really liked the idea of that wheel thing and the colour of the lady shoe green/ivory. Unfortunately one of the rubber ring came off the wheel very soon and it is very difficult to pull out the ring on one shoe in order to take off the shoe. I did get a good deal from the sales department but unfortunately had to pay another 78 TAX here in Germany (this has nothing to do with the service ) therefore I did not send the shoe back for repair. After all: Great service from BC but only 2 out of 5 for the shoe. Hope this doesn't get erased.
I like the features of the shoe but I can't wear it it gives me nasty blisters the worst I've ever had. In the Toe area it rubs on my little toe. I've worn them several times to try and break them in but now I just gave up - worst shoe I ever purchased.
I LIVE IN CHILE SOUTHAMERICA. IN THE SUMMER I BOTH A PARE OF M ENDURANCE XCR BOA SYSTEM, BUT NOW THE BOA SYSTEM OF MY RIGTH SHOE BROKE,.HOW CAN I FIX IT.
I purchased these for my husband. He is a surviving GBM (Serious brain tumor). He experienced a stroke post op after #3 brain surgery. Can not use one hand to tie shoes etc. We have been looking for a shoe that is a running shoe with a closure that a person with limited mobility can do. He was an avid athlete prior to this tumor. Runner, weight training, basketball. High school principal / coach. He loves this shoe. He likes the support put most importantly he can adjust his own shoes. He would need to get up prior to my leaving for work so I could tie his shoes. Now he says he can sleep until noon if he wants. I am planning to purchase a second pair of running shoes in Feb. for his birthday.
I bought these last year. They had a wider fit and the "boa" lacing system is a joke. Do not buy these under any circumstance. I broke the "boa" lacing system on my very first hike. Bad idea.
These are the second pair I have owned. The first pair never, ever gave me any problems. I purchased them for the boa system and also being water proof. Both of these features are very important to me. One of my dogs also enjoyed these and ate one for lunch. I received the second pair and with in three days the the sole where it is glued to the very front of the shoe started pealing back. More imortantly the boa system is extremely difficult to loosen.
Having had a previously positive with TNF Ultras I needed a new pair of shoes for a 62.5 mile endurance event and made the mistake of switching to the Endurus XCR Boa. On the second of 2 relatively short training runs the Boa laces broke and I had to return the shoes. I then reverted to a pair of Ultra XCR 103s which were excellent both in training and over the 62.5 miles. In summary I would save the premium and go for (the slightly cheaper) TNF Ultra 103 XCR over the TNF Endurus XCR Boa.
I had bought a pair of hiking boots with the Boa system last year I needed a pair of trail runners so I decided on the XCR shoe. They are a great pair of trail runners, I have not had any slippage with the Boa system as some have inidcated, it should be noted I don't twist the knob until my foot goes numb just snug as you would with a laced pair. This shoe is light weight but as in all the North Face shoes I order one size larger they seem to run a little small. I have been through the whole realm of running shoes from Nike until they got goofy with their styling, New Balance good shoe but heavy, this North Face group really makes good products and Backcountry always has a good stock and gets them to me in short order.
And the BOA system on the shoe completely broke. Luckily for me the people where I bought them took them back as they said they were getting a lot of complaints about the shoe. The lacing system is a great concept - but the reality is it's a waste of money.
As said in this title - this is a great shoe. Lightweight and very comfortable. I thought the lacing system was great - and does work great - but is a little bulky. After serious use the rubber on the back gets frayed and tough to grip. Additionally, the shoes were waterproof...for about two weeks. So if that is a priority, as it was for me, be careful. Hope this helps...
I bought these in error as I thought they replaced The North Face Ultra Gore-Tex XCR Trail Runners. The Endurus XCR Boa is made on a wider last and is too wide for me. I was intrigued by the Boa lacing system, however I prefer the multi-fit lacing system on the Ultra Gore-Tex XCR trail runners because you can adjust how tightly you lace it in the mid foot area. The Endurus laces you equally tightly from toe to ankle. Not my cup o' tea.
Shoes are awesome! They look and feel great, but they do run just a little small. I had to return mine to get a half-size larger. So, if you keep in mind that you need a larger size, you will do well!
I must say they are of very good quality. Keep my feet warm, dry, and comfortable. Thats exactly what I was looking for. I cant say enough about the costumer service, I'm very pleased. Thank you.
I have owned these shoes for several months. Only wore them several times. Football games and a festival, it was raining hard. They are definately waterproof and breathable. However, I am taken aback that these shoes are considered good trail running shoes. The arch support is good but the soles are tough. They are just slip in soles of poor quality. Not made in my opinion for running long distance. Northface needs to team up with Nike Air technology or something. Because these soles are hard. I would buy these shoes again because of the lacing system, goretex, waterproof and good price.
I was worried about the lacing system snapping at an inopportune moment. But as it turns out, the lacing is made of steel cable. These things are even tougher than the The North Face Ultra 100s that I've had forever. My advice to others is to get them bigger than you'd think. They supposedly are now true to size. But don't believe it. I normally wear a 9.5 in TNF trail runners. For these, I had to bump up to 10.5.
Great shoes! Perfect fit! Great lacing system which works perfectly. A bit of a risk to place an order from Europe, but I'm glad I did. These shoes are not for sale here (the Netherlands) so now I'm probably one of only a few people who can enjoy these shoes in Europe. Everything went smoothly!! Payment - shipping shoe size customer service and track and trace from UPS. The only downside was the price I had to pay for additional duty tax for local customs office. But hee, already eight people asked me where they could find these shoes.
I initially thought the Boa lacing system would be cumbersome and gimicky, but it turns out to be absolutely amazing -- perfect tightness, super-quick to tighten, super-quick to loosen, and easy to use. I love the fact that no laces flop around to loosen or get in the way. The shoes are also light-weight and wide enough at the toe cap area for my feet. I am thoroughly impressed by this new North Face shoe.
These shoes are the best thing since sliced bread! No more stopping to retie shoes on long runs. There are no shoe laces to tuck away. You get the same snug fit every time with the click of the dial.
I am 5'8" and 154lbs so not a big person. I do lots of running on hilly trails. The XCR is the most comfortable trail shoe - really supportive and well cushioned. The Boa system was good from the point of reducing rubbing and tightness. But...once you are on the trail the BOA system is easily hit and damaged - it jammed during an event and I had to pull the shoes off and switch to my spares. Would I buy again? Only on flat trails which defeats the purpose The North Face need to modify the BOA to protect is more.
I bought the Endurus shoes after a very good experience with another brand of XCR shoe. I ordered the Endurus on this site after wearing them (in a different color) in a North Face store and at home. My experience here was good but unfortunately that was not the case with the shoes. In the store they felt good but after 10 - 15 minutes outdoor wear I developed bleeding blisters on my heels. The heel discomfort persisted even after several weeks of more prolonged wear. I'm not sure if it was due to the Boa system which otherwise was great. Now I've given up on these shoes and I am back in the market for trail running shoes.
I Love these shoes!!! I run every day and have never had such a great comfortable snug shoe with running.I have tried every brand on the market, and nothing comes close to these shoes. I love the laceless design with the dial in back. So easy to use, and I never have to worry about lacing the shoe. Just turn the dial, I wish every type of shoe was this great.
I ordered these shoes because they have the amazing boa lacing system. It is the most awesome thing after television. God bless my North Face shoes with the boa lacing system.
Ever since the Salomon shoe came out with the new style of lacing, I have longed for another shoe that didn't need tying. The BOA system on shoes just makes sense and is soooo easy!!! I love 'em. Although I had a few issues with the BOA cable catching, I found them easy to fix with a paper clip. Now I never tie, just dial it in!!! So sweet! I hope laces are a thing of the past - they are for me. I bought a 10.5 for a 10.5 foot, and because it is TNF gear, it is generous. If I wanted that tight, ankle sock running shoe feel, I should have gotten a 10, but these babies are for a more casual deal. I don't really run in them much, but I have and the heel dial is not even noticeable. What is noticeable is the lack of laces that got in the way before I got these great shoes.
This is a sturdy shoe and is great for most outdoor activities. The heel height does rub against the Achilles area but this eventually resolves. When compared to pure running shoes they feel heavy.
I bought these shoes for running the muddy trails here in the north west (Portland)I needed waterproof for sure and the Endurus deliver. The only problem is that there is very poor traction on any wet smooth surface (think wood bridges or steel grates) I don't think it is limited to the Endurus model as my wife bought a pair of Ultra 103 XCRs and had the same DANGEROUS issue of slippage. Also the adjustment knob on mine fell off the first day. North Face is great about warranty so no issue there. Great fit but very slippery
Over all the shoe is not that bad. I kind of liked the boa system except one shoe wouldn't relase all the way. My biggest problem was the shoes seem to have little or no arch support. After being on my feet for several hours at work my feet were killing me. I put an old pair of TNF's on with a much more pronounced arch support and felt fine the rest of the day. These shoes might work fine for someone with a low arch but I'd stay away from them if you like/need a lot of arch support. I will be returning these and looking for a different shoe.
Waterproof, however the boa dial on the back of the shoe broke 3 times and had to get replacements every time from backcountry. Thankfully they broke off at the beginning or end of runs, never in the middle, otherwise i would have been out of luck as there is no other way to secure the shoe to your foot when the boa system breaks. Pretty heavy as well- not sure what broke the dial on the back as i never got a chance (nor did i trust them eventually) to take them off road.
Shoes are great for adverse weather- will keep your feet dry and warm in moderate conditions. Great for everyday. I was skeptical as to how they would perform as a running shoe, they are great. Shoe runs a little small in the width- if you have a wide foot or wear thick socks, consider moving up 1/2 size.
Ever since my fist pair of BOA shoes, i now buy nothing else. Call me lazy, but it is so much easier and so much cooler than traditional laces, and the fit is also better as it is more evenly distributed. I also like the style and comfort of these shoes. A++
The sole is firm and not as cushy as a regular running shoe. It feels solid and comfortable. There is ample tread, and the BOA system is even easier than it looks. Highly recommended.
these shoes are sweeet! comfy, stylish, and best of all no laces. on the go boa system works great, i had my doubts before i tried them out but all shoes should have these. i am not much of a trail runner so these are just mainly my everyday shoes and i am glad they are. my feet thank me.
These shoes may seem gimmicky, but they are far from it. The Boa lacing system is amazing, you get a custom fit and no lace slippage or lace flopping. As with all North Face running shoes, you also get awesome breathability and comfort. Way to go!!
I'm liking these shoes so far. The feeling of having the boa was weird at first, but I'm used to it now. At first I had a couple of pressure points and actually felt my toes falling asleep because I was tightening them too much. Now, after two weeks, I'm completely used to the feeling and know how much to tighten them. The insoles are very comfortable, and I was out in the rain in them yesterday, and my feet stayed nice and dry.
I bought these shoes thinking that I could have them on for the whole day and my feet would be in utter bliss. That's not the case with these shoes. If you want to do a several hour trail run/hike these are perfect. They are a very stable platform that are very stiff. They aren't the most comfortable shoe out there. Don't worry about getting wet feet with these shoes because they are monsoon proof. If you like a literally bomb-proof shoe these are it.
I always run with Asics. Never been a problem. I needed a trail shoe. I have to say these are clearly the worse shoe I have ever worn. I tried wearing them in an Ultra and nearly DNF's to all the complications I had with these shoes. Yes, I did break them in before my run too. Run away from them NOW! I will admit I do own the arnuva boa and they are a completely different shoe. Much more comfortable too.
