Ideal for anything from a chilly afternoon in town to a frigid day in the backcountry, The North Face Denali Glove provides the warmth of 300-weight fleece when you need it the most. Whether you wear them alone or add shells over these thick fleece gloves, they ensure you don't worry about ending the day with white tips. The North Face added nylon taslan over the knuckles and fingers to add a bit of wind resistance and protect against abrasion.
Bottom Line: You can't go wrong with a pair of versatile fleece gloves.
Good fleece glove to wear around the town and from the parking lot to the lodge. True fit, comfortable, warm enough for short trips outside. The glove has a nice tack on the palm and finger tips that make it somewhat non slip so that you can wear it while driving orv when attempting some fine motor skills outside in the cold for a short period of time. It is North Face, so it is quality, but usually have to pay full price...not many sale prices....I try to look in the Outlet for North Face accessory items.
These gloves match the Denali jacket personality: they're fairly warm, but offer no "technical" performance. That is, they don't stop the wind, and they don't offer any moisture wicking or water resistance. Wear these on a calm fall day, but don't use them for extremely windy or rainy days. The average person will be satisfied with these, but if you're "active" outdoors they're not going to cut it.
For those that haven't discovered it yet, The North Face basically produces two levels of products, a higher end base and a lower end base. The Denali gloves easily fall into the lower end, given the price this isn't all that surprising. Depending on how you'll be using them, these gloves may or may not suit your particular needs, I bought them as a midweight glove for lower to midrange (3,000 ft max) hiking, as my Marmot ski gloves are a bit of an overkill at these lower elevations.
The pros: Overall a pretty comfortably fitting glove, being made of fleece. I noticed many other people who've reviewed these gloves downgraded them due to the inner stitching being uncomfortable. personally this wasn't an issue for me at all. The best thing I can say about these gloves is the lighter weight grants you much more flexibility and dexterity than the average mid-weight ski glove, and they are fairly warm to around 40 degrees F or so.
The cons: These gloves are not weather resistant whatsoever. The fleece will wick some moisture away but don't expect to be dry if the weather takes a turn for the worse. Also, the wind cuts right through these gloves like a hot knife through butter! While this can provide some decent ventalation when the temps are in the low 40's, low temps and high winds will rip right through these things like they're not even there. This is also due in part to the fact that the gloves are loosely fitting on your hands, and what little heat they do allow your body to retain is lost from the lack of synching straps.
Conclusion: The Denali gloves may serve as a pretty good window shopping glove on cooler days but I don't reccomend going up against mother nature's colder climates with them. Buy with caution
Not bad for day to day stuff like walking the dog and going to the grocery store. This is why I bought them and they work fine. They look nice too. However, fore more technical stuff like skiing, hiking in low temperature, one may want to look for something warmer. For just walking around the city they are an excellent buy.
These gloves are great. They're not bulky, have grips on the fingertips, and nylon taslan on the fingers to cut down on wind. Great for what they are, fleece gloves. they're not ski gloves, and are definitely not waterproof or windproof. Very warm when kept dry, and very agile, not clumsy. Would buy again. Make sure you know what you're buying, these aren't ski gloves at all.
Good gloves for driving. Theyre not wind proof, so not great for long periods outside if it is windy, but they have good dexterity, so you can get into coat pockets and adjust auto controls. The gray looks gray in some light and looks a green color in other lights. Overall, a good glove for the price.
I don't think they have a shell. I'd recommend the Apex Bionic gloves if you want better water resistance. These are just like the Denali jacket. They will get wet, they will get dirty, the Polarfleec will become little balls. Overall, very nice gloves, but not for the yard work :]
It has not been cold enough to wear/try out these gloves, but I would like to say that BackcountryStore.com is a great online store that I will purchase from in the future.
These are very good glovesthey're my second pairbut it's been very cold in New York recently, and these are not the best gloves if you're going to be out in the cold for long periods. They're great for regular wear, however.
I love my The North Face fleece--it has turned my Summit shell into a year round jacket. I already had the Denali fleece--300 weight polartec, which keeps me warm in the cold Michigan winter. Now with the 100 weight Salathe fleece, I am set for spring. Great service. Thanks.
Well that would be up to the local store. But it comes all new with tags, so I don't see why they wouldn't exchange with you.Backcountry.com only has one location; Salt Lake City, Utah. Stores I have dealt with whine about it messing up their inventories.Any The North Face store will let you exchange if it is the current model and you have original The North Face tags on them. (And in new condition, of course)
These gloves are great for mild to moderate cold weather. I think adding glove liners would do for below zero. They could potentially be used as a liner themselves.
I expected them to be suitable for use in the high teens and twenties and was disappointed as well as I was with the protection against the wind. They also run a bit on the large side.
Good quality glove. Unfortunately, they're not windproof at all, and therefore not appropriate for really cold activities. They are great for just hanging out around town though.
Great fit and really keeps the hands warm, even during those cold winter nights in Iraq. The fact that they were free with an additional purchase made it even better.
I bought a pair of these a while back and they are great for keeping my hands warm when I drive. I love these gloves so much I bought another pair for my dad. backcountry's great service had them in by christmas.
I wouldn't go with these. These are great in Late fall and early spring with slightly warmer than winter temps. Not dead winter, -10 deg weather, unless very active.
These are really good driving gloves as they are quick to warm my hands on the steering wheel -- even after being left in the car overnight. Mittens don't offer the amount of warmth, support of freedom of finger movement that these gloves offer.
My hands are always cold & have been searching for years for a pair of gloves that would keep them toasty. I found them. The North Face Denali glove really does the trick. My digits stay warm & toasty despite the frigid temps.
I purchased these gloves for skiing in warm weather and found them perfect for temperatures down to -5° to -8°C (about 10°F). They have good grip and breath well, and are durable while still being soft. You may want to be a little careful when skiing on boilerplate or in the rough, as protection is limited. These gloves are a must for the ski bag. Thanks to the BackCountry crew for the great advice and service. You guys are the best.
My boyfriend loved these gloves that I got him recently. He wears them all the time.....during bad weather or when it's just a little nippy out. Thanks for the quick service!
These glove's not only keep your hands warm but they also are pretty stylish. I can wear them with anything from dress up to casual... Really great glove!!!
The Denali glove sizing is not accurate. I usually wear a large. The X-large glove was too small and uncomfortable for me. I returned the glove that otherwise had excellent qualities.
The Denali Gloves are really, really comfortable. They fit tightly around your fingers and you can actually feel the softness of the material inside. AND, the gloves have grips on the outside!
I bought this glove to go on a skiing trip in WV; it was warm when I would walk outside from the lodge. But when skiing and falling down in the snow, it does get wet and your fingers start to get cold. It would be awesome if the glove had a Gore-Tex liner or shell. But overall its a great glove for cold morning driving.
Got this free with a jacket purchase. They make a good spring skiing glove, if you don't fall a lot. Not really windproof so save them for days without wind. We'll see how long they hold up, but the seams feel pretty strong.
The glove is comfortable and it fits a bit big. They'll keep your hands warm in cold weather. It is however, a bit clumsy and bulky. I'd suggest going a size down.
These gloves are excellent for any dry activity. They are very warm, but also breathable, and the grips on the fingertips and palms help out a lot with everyday activities in the cold. For skiing, ect, they get wet easily and(although they dry very quickly) lose their warming abilities. Overall a great value, and I'd recommend these gloves to anyone needing to keep their hands warm in a dry environment.
I've been a happy North Face customer for years and have never been disappointed with their products, until now. Granted it's not an extreme glove, but it's only in the 30s where I live right now and the gloves are letting out a lot of heat. My hands are better off than if they were bare, but no much. I'm honestly disappointed.
I wore these on a recent trip to Oregon and even at the top of the Astoria Column, where the wind was blowing very hard and cold. These gloves kept my hands warm and I was able to use my digital camera while wearing them. Very nice gloves. I suggest ordering a size smaller than usual for the best fit.
A bit over priced for what the customer receives. The stitch work in the inside is sound but it takes away from the comfort of the glove. In Alaska teens or below zero weather this glove will not keep your hands fully warm. Wind cuts right through the material. Glove is over sized. Good product but The North Face makes better one's.
I wore this gloves in D.C. which the weather was down below 32F but this gloves does not protect my hands from the cold at all. I could feel the wind penetrated through the rim lines of the gloves. Overall, very disappointed.
my boyfriend needed gloves for going to football games(go bills!) and brushing off the snow from the car(gotta love buffalo, my weather!) and i bought these gloves & he LOVES them! he said they fit real nice & theyre warm! a great buy for the price!
i use these for late fall and winter in south eastern kentucky. they are tougher than you would think and fit true to the sizing chart. on really cold wet and windy snow days i use them under my waterproof gloves
The gloves are very warm. I would recommend that you order true to size. I went up an additional size thinking they should be a little big but they are a little too big. It was my fault so I can't complain, but the clothes are great, the delivery was on time and I love the e-mail tracking. The second pair I ordered for my boyfriend matched his Mt. Erebus Northface perfectly!
Warmth, quality and style - these gloves are great as an every day glove. Only 1 complaint - I can feel the heavy duty stitching material and the thick seams on my fingers (slightly uncomfortable). Other than that, I love the gloves.
Nice glove that fits well and keeps warm. However, w/wind your hands will get cold fast. Nice to have as a lightweight backup or for hanging around base camp.
I have already had some winter weather in them, they lasted a good snowball fight. You would have to get them soaked to feel it. Dont take them on the hills but good for daily wear.
These gloves are durable and warm. They have a nice shape and fit. You can wear them all day long and never feel like you have to take them off. They make it easy to pickup and grab things. I thought large would be good size but had to get XL. The fit was tight and short on the wrists. The XL feels better now.
I just don't like these gloves. They are the correct length for my hands but the finger tips are too tight. They are uncomfortable and make my finger tips numb. I'd rather wear my KMart brand fleece gloves that were also much cheaper. I can't recommend these.
Great gloves easy to wear they go longer into your sleeve as you need them too. They keep the cold air out and your hands safe from cold and still you can use your fingers with ease.
Very warm, like the jacket. Also can be used for driving. Lightweight, fit in jacket pockets. Product was well priced and was delivered on time. Good service.
These gloves are exactly what I needed. Heavy enough to keep your fingers warm on those cool days walking back and forth to the train in Chicago. But not bulky like the heavy duty gloves you need when it's below zero or when I am running the snow blower. Only complaint is the internal stitching rubs a litle on your hands, but nothing to get crazy about.
These gloves filled the gap between no gloves and heavy gloves, well, like a glove. I actually bought 3 pair to replace the single pair I had worn out over the past couple of years. I keep a pair stashed in my day pack, in my car and at home. As a BSA Scoutmaster in Colorado, I bring them on every outing as you can ALWAYS expect the night temps to drop considerably. They wear well and keep my hands warm down to the low 20's and teens.
They have a great fit: not too tight & not too loose, "they fit like a glove!" haha. I got 2 color: blue & black. The best gloves i've gotten in a while!! Way to go The North Face!!
These are not outdoor gloves by any means nor do I think that they are made for such things. These are like the coat Denali everyone has one but they are a joke for real hikers out doing, but great for every day stuff.
crappy gloves. never wore them. SO tight on the fingers, and the wrist is loose rather than snug. i would say i have pretty normal sized hands also. perhaps they do the job, but i couldn't even give them a chance.
