The North Face Men's Denali Vest is ideal for mountain and town use. The ultra-warm 300-weight fleece and abrasion-reinforced shoulders withstand a lifetime of abuse. With four front pockets to stash all your snacks and electronic gadgetry, the Denali Vest warms your core during a hike or while you run errands.
Bottom Line: One of The North Face's classic and most popular pieces.
This vest was a perfect compliment to my North Face Summit series jacket that doesn't have a liner. With both of these I'm warm when sitting still, as the Summit jacket is for climbing in the cold and doesn't quite keep warm when not active.
If you like vests, this is your huckleberry. I'd rate this 5 stars, but for $130 for a damn vest is too much. With that said, it's a great mid-layer for 25-35 degree days and a good outer layer on spring days. It is also stylish enough for apres. The vest also sports good pockets, the one on the breast is perfect for an ipod.
I have a large men's denali jacket and have thought about getting this vest. How does the sizing of this vest compare to the denali jacket? Should i get a Large or a Medium ? Thanks for the help.
My husband and I were so happy that this site had this vest. I gave this vest to my husband for Christmas and it was too small so went to every outdoor store we could find the week after Christmas nobody had it except this place. Thanks
My first piece of The North Face gear and I just wonder why so long?! This is a quality garment with warmth and pockets galore. I enjoy the light weight and good looks that make this vest my favorite of many that I own. I would recommend it as a stand alone or zipped into a shell for wet days. Good stuff!
I got mine from 15 years ago and I LOVE mine. The Vest is perfect for layering under a Jacket then a shell. I thought figure I might get a new one in a differnt color but when I tried out the new one, the SIZING is TOTALLY different. Aside from sizing the cut was different. It is longer now so that heat escapes from bottom. Now that TNF has gone mainstream this piece is geared more for wearing as a outer layer. I'll stick to my old Denali Vest where its shorter and the elastic around the waist keeps the heat where it should be. The old sizing allows me to use my old vest for any technical activities where as this new version does not because it is too bulky especially the length.
This is by far the best and most versatile single piece of apparel (multiple pockets, durable material, etc.) one could own and use! The Denali Vest rocks, can be used from MTB to causal ice skating rink outings. I already owned a blue/black one. And promised myself that once an all black one came on sale, I would jump on it before you could blink an eye!
The North Face Denali vest is a good piece of backcountry gear. It's warm but runs large and weighs more than I had anticipated. The vest is zipper-compatible with the North Face Summit Series shells. However, zipping the vest into the shell disallows the use of the powder skirt. Last, the combination of wearing the vest and a shell provides bullet-proof protection from the very cold outdoor conditions. (Using the vest and shell, I snowboarded comfortably last week in New Hampshire even with wind chills hovering around -40F.)
If I normally wear an XL in TNF Women's jackets, would you recommend a L or M in the men's? Does the vest fit the same as the Denali jacket? I cannot find this in women's anywhere (although I KNOW they existed at some point), so I think I am going to have to purchase the men's version!
Although somewhat expensive and a little bulky, this is an excellent fleece. I do not use it for anything technical, just for hanging around the house and running errands. It is extremely comfortable and looks good as well.
I just purchased the North Face Denali Vest in black. Backcountry.com is a site I will definately use again. I am looking forward to using the vest this winter. I am a snowboarder, and have found that a good vest and a light Jacket is a perfect combination in almost any weather. The Northeast can dish out some pretty harsh conditions, and I am sure this vest will up for anything. It has the perfect combination of pockets for the user, and is really comfortable.
Received as Christmas present from daughter. Skied with it under Northface parka and lounged around in it apres ski. Wonderful, warm, well made. Lots of pockets.
i have a TNF amplitude triclimate jacket in large. should i get the large or medium size to zip into my size large amplitude jacket? I've been reading that the size on the denali runs a little large.
it does run a little bit large but it also looks like (from the reviews) that the amplitude does too, so you would probably want to get a large denali vest to avoid any sizing conflicts when trying to zip them together, unless you want to have this vest fit tight, then you should get the medium
I normally wear size large for just about everything. The size large vest was too long and roomy. I returned it for a medium and it was much better. The quality is good, no surprise from The North Face.
There isn't one, but this one's definitely geared towards a male torso. North Face offers a bunch of vests for women though, you can probably find whatever it is you're looking for.
I love this vest, I had one for over 5 years before the pockets started to wear, I HAD to order another one...thank goodness this site had some for sale...THEY ROCK!
This Vest is very important to my life. I can't leave home without it. Whenever I feel down or depressed I have my Denali Vest to cheer me up. The vest is super cool. I named my vest Junior. I suggest you guys buy this vest because without it life just wouldn't be the same.
The only hooded vests on Backcountry are for women and little girls. -------------Blunt, but true. I guess you could get creative on a jacket/hooded sweatshirt that had sleeves. Layering of other hooded items, turtlenecks or perhaps a balaclava are going to be your only other options.
This is exactly what I needed. I already have the Denali jacket. Very nice piece for those Upstate NY spring days when the jacket is too warm. 5 stars and two thumbs up!! Perfect fit.
The fleece vest is just what he wanted, but it was too big and will to return it for a medium. I should have read the reviews before ordering and I would have known. It seems others ran into the same issue.
I love this fleece vest. It is warm, comfortable and fits well. I always wear it when I do hiking. For most other North Face jackets, I wear size medium. This vest in the same size was too large for me, and I have to switch to a one in small size.
Does exactly what i expected it to. Well made. Strong zippers. Wish the inner liner was open at top for bulk storage e.g. hat, gloves goggles when skiing.
Vest is thick and warm and zippers work well. Far better than the cheap-o giveaway vests I've collected at conferences. It might be a 1/2 size too large, but hey, I can ayways grow into it lol
Perfect. Fits better than my old one of same size. Its a little bigger than the older ones. Great construction and comfortable. Works great in the office and out fishing.
Great Vest no matter if your just heading out around the town or up on the hill. Also, a great layering piece for my Mnt Light shell. I will have this vest in my ski gear rotation for many seasons to come!
I just purchased this TNF vest. The weather has not been cold enough to wear it yet, but I have wore it round the house just to test out the fit and warmth. So far, I am very impressed with its fit, style and comfort. I have not wore a vest in years, but I am looking forward to colder weather to try it out!
