It snowed 14 inches last night. So you get up at seven, grab your fat skis, and call in well. The North Face designed the Women’s Decagon Jacket for days like this. This waterproof, breathable jacket features a powder skirt, wrist gaiters, and a great big hood to keep you dry in a whiteout. If deep turn after deep turn makes you work up a sweat, just open the easy-reach pit zips for some fresh air. The North Face incorporated tons of handy pockets for your music, goggles, keys, and lunch money, plus a pass clip so you can cruise through the lift line without fumbling for your pass. You have places to go and turns to make.
I needed a jacket that I could wear in all conditions and this one is it. It fits great - Northface is forgiving in general I find. Order your size and it will give you a nice fit. (Not like some others that think all women are petite.) I can layer, layer, layer on cold days and just wear a t-shirt on warm days. I was worried about the breast pockets. I have boobs and thought maybe the pockets may really stick out, but I gave it a try and actually the pockets sit high, almost near the armpits, but not in a weird way. This jacket also has armpit zips which come in real handy on warm days. I highly recommend.

I got a small and thought it was a little too big when I got it in the mail. But when it came to get on that mountain... it was perfect. It allowed for layers, breathed well when it got warm out, protected from the wind and kept me dry.
This Jacket is perfect for layering and has longer sleeves than most. I wear a poly-pro plus my REI OXT Airflyte Half-zip top underneath and I'm GOLDEN for everything but 20 below. The hood is big enough to have a low pony-tail and the fabric keeps me dry even when the PNW wet snow sits on it on a long chair ride. Definitely recommend this versitile jacket, you can easily make it below-zero proof with a down shell underneath and a thermal layer.
No, you would be freezin' your tail off. It does have a "thermoliner" but comes equipped with NO insulation in it at all. I would guess anything below freezing, and you're going to be freezing!
This jacket was designed for skiing and snowboarding. It comes from North Face's Freeride line, so it will run larger than sizing from traditional alpine ski apparel companies. It is also uninsulated, so good if you like to layer for a wide range of temperatures. Hope this helps.
