The North Face Dayhiker Lumbar Pack - 1000cu in - 2007

The North Face Dayhiker Lumbar Pack keeps you happy and comfortable on the trail or in the city—without sore shoulders. Stuff an extra layer, a rain shell, and your camera into the Dayhiker Lumbar Pack's 1000 cubic inch interior. A breathable foam back panel, dual aluminum stays, and a tuck-away hip-belt can comfortably support a full load. Stash your iPod in the zippered front pocket with headphone slit and stroll through town to your tunes. The North Face added stretch water bottle pockets on both sides of this daypack to hold full-sized Nalgenes and side compression panels and straps to consolidate your load for easy carrying. If you want to mix it up, whip out the removable, padded strap and shoulder the Dayhiker Lumbar Pack.

Bottom Line: The North Face's Dayhiker Lumbar Pack—daypack versatility. Happy shoulders.

Brilliant purchase

i cant live without it. i use it on a daily basis as my briefcase and get tons of positive comments about it. has limitless uses. i use for: work, beach, camping, hippy fests, frisbee golf, carry on when flying, daypack for walkabouts. can fit my laptop in as well as legal size folders (in the back stash pock), my lunch/snacks, pocks for phone, iPod, pen sleeves, stretch front pocket, huge organizer pocket and oversized main compartment.
My only gripe is the stretch H2O pockets on both sides b/c the bottles fall out. i attached a mini carabiner to the main compartment zipper and hook it on to my camelbak bottle in case it does fall out. that solved my problem. I have used as a lumbar pack, but its usually too heavy and will weigh my pants down (dont think anyone needs to see that). awesome shoulder bag.

Great pack, well made, great for around town, the trail however sometimes kicks this things ass. Because of its size is does not support all the weight that it holds, but as a shoulder bag it is awesome!!

Probably around 25-30 pounds will start to sag to the point where you can't wear it.

The Best

Just got an email asking me to review my recent purchase so I thought why not. This bag is PERFECT. I love the design and all the various compartments. I fit my medium sized books inside, and I love using the shoulder strap to carry it around. Very comfortable and a GREAT look. I have no complaints and would recommend the product AND backcountry.com to EVERYONE, ANY DAY!! God bless you all. Hebrews 10:35-39.

Not bad for big butts

By:

I have a 32 inch waist and small to average size ass, and this pack was almost too much. I wanted a big fanny pack, and got one. Well made, holds plenty - for me, digital slr, h2o, snacks, rope, maps / hiking guide / and normal stuff. So, if you are smaller in the waist and rear, you might want to down size to a 850 cu in or there abouts.

3 pairs of climbing shoes easily; I've stuffed the bulky North Face Ultra 104 GTX trail running shoes in this pack, and still had room for my ultralight shell and energy bar on top. It's versatile: the Dayhiker compresses relatively thin without the load. But there's no getting around the width+height of it, it's definitely there - but stays comfy.

Outstanding...

Perfect size for a day hike. Love it. Always pack my softshell, plenty of food, two 1L water bottles and there's infinite room for extra stuff. Fits perfect, I barely feel it's weight. To be honest, I feel the weight when I take it off, and I'm like "omg ! This was all on me? I didn't really feel it".

The reason I bought this was because of a shoulder injury that prevented me from carrying backpacks for a while. Now I'm better and I'm never carrying a backpack on day hikes, I'm only taking this pack. Love it.
