Are these polyester socks as good as polypropylene at wicking away moisture?

A bit late but polyester rarely does as well as polypropylene at wicking moisture. You may try those or something in merino wool.

I bought these at the same time that I bought the bridgedale cool max liners. The TNF don't come close to being as good as the bridgedale. I returned them.
