The North Face Chesterton Crew Shirt - Long-Sleeve - Men's
The North Face Long-Sleeve Chesterton Crew fleece makes a super-soft lightweight layering shirt. The Chesterton Crew provides comfortable warmth, and it keeps you looking good if you wear it alone at an après party. The soft TKA chamois fleece is quick-drying, so if you work up a sweat on the hill, it won't stick to you like Saran wrap. A relaxed fit gives you room to layer underneath the Chesterton or keep a casual look when you're out on the town.
Bottom Line: The North Face Chesterton Crew is ultra soft for ultra comfort.
Wow. This shirt was a great buy. I am 5'11, 160 pounds, and I bought a medium, which fits me perfectly. It is nearly as warm as a sweater, but much more functional. It wicks well, and is so comfortable and good looking enough to wear around the house and town. This purchase is one of my favorites from backcountry so far. Awesome.
I'm 6'1'' 165 lbs slender build. I'm torn between the large or medium. I don't want the sleeves or bottom of the shirt to be too short but yet I don't want it to fit too loose. Any suggestions on what size would fit best?
I agree with Andrew. I'm 5'7" 150 lbs. and own the medium, which is perfect. Regardless of height factor if I were about 10 more lbs heavier I would want the large. The medium would be pretty short in the torso for someone your height, unless that is, if you like midriffs, lol. Seriously though, I'd go with a large.
This shirt fits looser, more of a "relaxed" fit. I am about your same size and I would purchase the large, mainly for the difference in length. That is what I would suggest.
This shirt is like all the other North Face clothing I have purchased. The quality is obvious the first time you wear it. It feels great and is extremely comfortable! I'm 6'7" tall and the XXL is plenty long enough in the sleeves and body for my height. I will continue to purchase North Face clothing from this site. Why? Quality and Excellent Service!!
This is a great light weight fleece. I like to use if for early morning hikes. It allows enough breathing to not over heat you. Size seems true and is a great fit.
I bought this shirt for my husband for Christmas. He loves it. My teenage son wants one just like it. They are both 5'11'' about 173 pounds. The medium fits my husband well. Arm length and overall length is perfect. We purchased the gray as it doesn't show lint and yellow lab hair as well as the black would.
Bought this shirt for myself about a month ago and love it. My brother told me he must need one too since he sees me wearing mine so much. He liked the material and soft feel. My brother is a big guy; not what you would call an athletic build at 5'11" 285. I checked BC to find they had one XXL left in the Olive green, but I was hesitant to purchase it for his b-day present due to the way clothes fit him...however I got it anyway. Gave it to him last night at his party, he tried it on this morning, fit great, wore it to work and loves it. Now he fits in @ the office with all the other TNF billoards, lol. At any rate, you can see my previous review below but one more thing I could definitely add after having this shirt for a while is that I haven't washed it yet...yea, get over it...but I have been bent over campfires, stoves while cooking, smokers in a car and this thing honestly still has that fresh packaged smell to it. Its kinda strange actually. Also something else I find odd is the amount food and drinks I have dribbled on it and with a light, easy scrub with a damp cloth it hasn't retained anything. You simply can't tell this shirt has been worn many times over in all type o conditions while having food and drink spilled on it (lol). This is super nice to know I have a no frills, foolproof, uber-great shirt for the AT and my brother can fit in with all the other wanna be outdoorsmen office yuppies!
bought this shirt for a warm layering base for my shoulder season AT hike next year. It's super warm for such a lightweight fleece, which is what I luv about it. It works great under a wind/rain proof shell cuz it breathes easy. Along with a good base layer to wick moisture away from your body underneath this shirt coupled with a windshell and/or rainshell and you should be good to go anywhere. I live in KS where the winds never stop so I can warn anyone who lives in windy areas that this shirt will NOT keep you toasty in cold temps where high winds are present. This shirt is made to breathe, not dissipate wind. So don't get mad at TNF if you run into this problem. But when used how and what it is designed for it is perfect. I can't say enough good things about this shirt. I wear it probably more than I should given I bought it for an AT trip next year but summin tells me its not going to wear out anytime soon and will still be good to go next spring. Thanks TNF and BC.com for such a great deal and as always superfast free shipping and friendly customer service!!!
This is the shirt! Plain, nothing fancy, not too warm, exactly the right shirt for winter days here in the South West. I got four of them, all black, and all of them of the same great quality. After two winters, continously wearing one of them every day, they show a little wear around the elbows since I have a deskjob. But that is what I expect from the material and you can always roll up the sleeves. The seams are still perfect and the colour is still dark black. The one I bought three years ago is showing some fading out now but that's okay. All in all a great shirt very much worth the money.
This shirt is decent quality at a reasonable price. I am 6' 170 lbs and have a medium. It is a little short in the arms for me, and a bit tight across the chest but the large was far to baggy in the stomach. It is a more casual cut for sure. The material seems pretty good quality. I have used it with a pack and do not see any pilling on the surface. If you are looking for a shirt that can be worn skiing and around town, it is pretty good. Oh, and like others said, the logo is the same as the body color on mine (black). 4 stars because it doesn't quite fit my freakishly long 78" wingspan.
This shirt is super soft, dries quickly, and comfortable. Did I mention it was soft? This has a nice fit, plenty long sleeves and body (but not too long), which is usually a problem for me at 6'2". Haven't needed it for warmth yet but looks to have all the right stuff. Oh, yeah--it's soft!
Great for my height (Im 6'2"), in size large it hits me mid way at my hips and the sleeves hit at my thumb knuckles (this is really nice for taller guys). It fits very close to the body but seems to be built for climbers because the seaming in the shoulder area allows nicely for broad muscular shoulders which is great for me and has always been an issue I had with other fleece shirts. Its very warm for its light weight and moves well with activity. I love putting it on during cold wet mornings, it really warms you up. A+ to North Face on this one (in my book).
I needed something light, not bulky but still warm. This shirt is perfect. It is very light feeling, not bulky like a sweatshirt but still manages to take off the early morning chill. You could definitely use it as a layering piece if necessary and wear a coat or something over it.
I've spent a long time looking for a fleece like this. It's lightweight, good for layering, and actually quite warm on its own. I've been wearing it non-stop since it arrived. Definitely a favorite.
I wear these under my uniform at work. I have used these for over 4 years with great success. They are just warm enough to be comfortable on a cold Michigan winter night. I don't get over heated because they breath very well. I would recommend these to anyone looking for a soft, warm and comfortable shirt. Their layering abilities are great.
I bought this for my son for Christmas -- he wanted something versatile for possible layering, and he wanted it soft. This fits the bill so well on both counts. The fit is just right, too. I don't know why people care about the color of the logo. The only down side for us was the color of the shirt itself -- we got the root brown and its a funky color and not what it appears online. I'd definitely buy another, but in a different color.
The Chesterton Crew is a soft, warm chamois-weight long sleeve shirt. It has a variety of uses, from layering outdoors in cold weather to just lounging around the house with a pair of sweats. The first Chesteron Crew I received had uneven stitching running along the shoulder seams, The North Faceprobably could have done a better job in the quality check dept. As with some other North Face gear, I ended up being somewhere b/w a medium and large (although sometimes, oddly enough, i'm also b/w a L and XL). The large runs a bit long in the waist, but the medium doesn't give as much room in in the upper chest area for me, so you may want to try out both if you tend to run b/w sizes like me. The Chesterson crew can shine outdoors, but where it really ended up being a winner for me was as a yoga/lounge shirt, perfect for those chilly mornings when extra, lightweight warmth is greatly appreciated. A note to other customers: The "Moonlight Ivory" is much more akin to a coffee ice cream (i.e. light beige) than the product picture seems. A bit odd, because even the official The North Face product page for the Chesterton shows it as being closer to ivory/white, which it isn't.
Your product is Marvelous My son In law has been wearing it since Xmas of course washed it and also took a good wash with out shrinking He Loves it and I have to give you the heads up on your delivery's " FAST " Fantastic!!!
WARNING: This is the softest fleece you will ever feel, DO NOT lend it to a girl or you WILL NOT get it back.
This fleece weighs nothing, fits great (esp. if you have a large chest/ small waist/ wide shoulders/ long arms), drys super fast, and layers great. I've used it to rock climb and hike several times, as well as wear it around campus. It looked sharp and now some female has it.
I received my shirt just in time to take on my ski trip. It was warm and comfortable. However, let me suggest getting a size larger then you normally wear. I normally take a Large but had to re-order an XL in this shirt. I will probably order another one in a different color for next winter. Also, it cost quite a bit less than the Under Armour in a simliar style.
After receiving this shirt yesterday I tried it on and almost immediately started sweating. Granted, I do live in Florida, but none the less, this is a very warm fleece. It ended up being a bit bigger (size medium- I guess I needed the small- but that's what you get as a woman ordering a mans shirt- my fault, not yours) than I had wanted. But that is not my reason for returning it. I returned it because I ordered the black and in the picture the fleece is black with a white North Face logo. The shirt I recieved was black with a black logo that you could not even see.
