If you're sick of your fleece hording sweaty odors after your hikes, you'll be stoked on The North Face Women's Borealis Fleece Jacket. The North Face made this fleece with a small amount of carbon (from bamboo) which adds natural anti-odor and wicking properties to the Borealis. This layer's recycled polyester fleece has an anti-pilling face so it won't look like you've been attacked by an army of small yarn-balls after a few months. Since harmful sun rays can penetrate clothes, The North Face made sure the Borealis Fleece has UPF 30-rated sun protection fabric.
Bottom Line: Naturally soft, wicking, and antimicrobial.
Is the color black a real black. I ordered another style North Face fleece jacket the the color is a washed out (grayish) black. I wondered if the color black is consistent across styles.
I love how this jacket looks and fits. The fleece is very soft, and it is form fitting. It isn't particularly thick, but it's great for fall and spring. The sleeves are also pretty long and the monkey cuffs cover your hands nicely on brisk mornings.
Amazingly warm despite it's light feel. Not overly excited about the sleeves with the thumb rings, but, I'm sure I'll appreciate them when the temps get really cold.
I hiked to Lake Blanche in Big Cottonwood Canyon near Salt Lake City this October wearing the TNF Borealis Fleece jacket and it was the perfect choice in 45 degree weather with no shell.
I just got this in the mail and decided to return it for a heavier fleece. Its a great fit, but ultra lightweight and not what I'm looking for right now. I didn't take it outside, but I'm confident it would work very well as a inner layer under a vest or outershell for the winter. Very soft. I am 5'2" 115 and have a short torso, and this fit just right (not snug, enough wiggle room, yet flattering) in a size small.
The Denali is a much different fit from the Borealis- the Borealis is a performance fit, so it is much more trim in the upper body than the Denali, and it is also longer. I think it is a great cut if you are looking for a more active cut. It is a much different application however, the Borealis is a light 100 weight fleece, where the Denali is heavy 300 weight, so quite different in almost every aspect. Hope this help-
Hi - they are both 100 weight, so I wouldn't call one warmer than the other. The only edge that you can give to the Masonic is the hood if it gets really chilly
I bought this for my girlfriend for a great winter layer in jackson hole. All she wears on top of it is a north face vest and stays really warm. I dont think she has worn anything else since she has had it. Definatley reccomend!
I bought this fleece for hiking during the shoulder seasons and as a layering option for snowshoeing. I generally wear a medium and the medium fits me perfectly. The cut is form fitting and flattering, but not at all tight. I have short arms for my height and the sleeves are predictably a little long, so for those without munchkin arms, the length should be just fine. This fleece washes well with no special care. I'm very pleased with this purchase.
The North Face Borealis Fleece Jacket is an awesome addition to my wardrobe. It's warm enough to wear as an only external layer in the Fall, and is a great insulating mid-layer for colder weather. The thumb holes keep it in place under gloves and a shell, and keep my hands toasty warm. There's only one small pocket on the left hip, but it's the perfect size for your keys, ID, and lip goo when you're out on an early morning run in chilly weather. Two thumbs up!
Good layer if cold or by itself in only cool weather. True to its' size. The sleeves were long enough (I have long arms). Like the thumb rings & that they too have fleece on the inside as well.
Hi, Pamela. I'm not sure. I've scoured this page for context clues, but I can't find where you're reading "old style fit." I can say that this jacket is very fitted and very feminine. It's a great light jacket and perfect for layering. Hope this helps.
