Bottom Line: Experience the unrivaled support and comfort of The North Face's revolutionary 50 Boa Running Shoe.
Seriously, these are huge!!!! I normally wear a size 7 but I have a wide foot, and read some reviews that these tend to run small, so I ordered a 7-1/2. Nice shoes, but they are between 3/4" and 1" too long. I think a 7 might even be too long, but I don't know if a smaller size would be wide enough for me. I hate to return things multiple times, so I'll probably just look for another style shoe rather than keep trying with these.
Also, am I the only idiot who couldn't figure out the BOA system? I knew that you tighten the laces by turning the dial because someone mentioned it, but I had no idea how to loosen them up again. I tried turning the dial the opposite direction, and then pushing on the middle of the button, all to no avail. There were no instructions in the box, and I even tried the North Face website for clues. They were lax on details too, but I saw a reference to the "quick release" so I fiddled around with it some more and realized that you have to pull the button OUT to loosen, and then push it back in to turn and tighten.
I'm giving them 4 stars for the "cool" aspect, and it's hard to say how much I'd like them since the size is so far off.
I keep reading that sizing is a major issue with this shoe... I am reading that some people say run "true to fit", while others are saying buy a 1/2 - 1 full size larger... I am normally a size 8 (in most shoes and running shoes) so what size do you think I should buy based on your experience? Thank you. :)
I think these shoes do run true to size. I wear an 8 1/2, which is what size I ordered, and they fit great. I wouldn't have wanted or needed to go up 1/2 size.
After having a baby, I got these shoes for extra support while taking my son out on walks in the stroller. My back was hurting from my regular shoes, and the pain went away when I started wearing these. Plus they stay tight on your feet so you don't have to worry about readjusting your laces all the time. Great sole grip on slippery sidewalks and streets. They were comfortable from the first time I put them on, and they fit true to size. Highly recommended.
Relieve any pressure points and easily adjustable. I ran a half marathon in these without a problem. I find TNF has a slightly different size from other running shoe brands that fits my feet better. But it stays true to size within the brand.
These shoes fit great, I bought them true to size. I have run on the road and trail with these and they performed amazing. The boa was great for adjusting on the fly while running. I have run in a couple pairs of TNF trail runners and these are my favorite!
I purchased two pair because I need extra support and help with balance post-surgery. The structure of this shoe is the best I've ever found--and so adjustable!
