The North Face Arnuva 50 Boa Trail Running Shoe - Men's

Tried these on in store and loved the fit and easy boa lacing system. Pretty light as well.
The first time I took these out was just a light day hike... After about 6 hours total walking for the day both TNF logos had fallen off the shoe, most of the reflective stuff had rubbed off, and the sole was separating from the shoe!
Would hate to think what these would be like after a couple of days hard adventure racing!!!
So these got demoted and became my "river shoes" for kayaking/canoeing/etc. About 9 months down the track the dial on the back has snapped off so now the lacing system doesn't even work!!

Before everyone says "why didnt you send em back!", I'll say why... I bought them from a shop in Japan, hence the difficulty in returning. Emailed TNF and they said the only thing to do was return them to where they were purchased even if it was a few thousand Km's away.

So... yeah, usually a big fan of TNF but not these. Will get Salomon's next time!

What can you say..... They do the job and are super easy to get on and off, which I like after a nice run. Plus the material doesn't get heavy after going through mud/creeks. I'd buy another pair

Let me start this review by saying that I am addicted to the rear BOA lacing system, as all other laces destroy the top of my foot by putting too much pressure on the tongue of the shoe. Therefore, I MUST buy any trail shoe that NF puts out with this lacing system as there are no other rear BOA lacing shoes on the market! So, this is my 5th pair of NF BOA trail shoes. This model is by far the most true to size. All previous shoes ran very small...I normally wear a 11.5 or 12 (US) and I used to have to get a 13 to fit properly! I got a 12 in the Arnuva 50 and it fits great! Performance on the trail is predictably good. Weight is good, stability is good and the BOA system does it's magic by holding the shoe on at the sides of the foot and at the heel instead of over the tongue (ouch!). I will definitely buy again..and again...and again - at least until some other manufacturer comes out with a rear BOA lacing system!

The North Face Arnuva 50 Boa is well built well designed running shoe for a variety of running styles and conditions. I feel the price tag is a bit hefty and I've also had issues with the Boa lacing system pinching but overall its a decent shoe for built for road and trails. On fit I would classify NF shoes made wider than most running shoes so take that into account for size. Im a 10 and find the 9.5 extra roomy.

Light an durable for trail running!

Just got finished with a half marathon wearing my boa's. I encountered no blisters or rubbing of any kind. They're a little pricey but well worth the money. I will definately have another pair.

Picked up a pair from SAC. Not sure if I like them as much as my Salomon's, they are still pretty new with only 4 or 5 runs. The Boa system seems to work well at providing even support for the foot all around. Noticed lots of comments about sizing before purchasing. I am typically and 11.5 - 12. Purchased the 11.5 and it is a great fit.

I like how the shoe holds up,but I don"t think it has enough support for running on the road. I really can"t do a good evaluation until I"ve run more miles. I'm used to Asics, but these seem to wear better.

This is my first set of the Boa model shoes and I must say it's impressive. Very fast to slip in and out of, and a very secure feeling when tightened. I wear 10.5 and these seemed true to size if not a hair bigger. I've only used them for gym shoes so far so I'm not sure how they hold up for trail running, but they seem sturdy enough to get the job done. It does rub on the back of my ankle a bit, which i attribute to them not having broken in, but it also may be because the Boa dial is right there which might make the rear support more rigid. I will update this post after I've taken them for a run.

I've done about 20 miles so far on just roads and they are super comfortable. Cushioning is sweet, too. Very lightweight. I run a lot, so this isn't coming from some fairweather jogger. The BOA lacing makes sure you get a perfect tightness around your foot. Highly recommend for road running. I haven't tried them out on trails, yet. I do believe North Face points out this shoe is for trails and roads.

Just got the Zinc Red/ Indian Clay Red ones today in the mail. Love the way they look and fit. I was pleasantly surporsed they look even better in person then on the internet.The lacing system is spectacular look forward taking these on my camping trip next week!

Love the shoes, boa system is amazing. Look VERY cool, and the price of $74 that I got them for on SAC is amazing. BUT, I am going to exchange them for a half size smaller. Be warned, I wear a fairly tight 10.5 and a 10 will fit much better. Buy these shoes, but buy a half size smaller than regular!

I was very excited about these, but after a five mile run, I broke something in my foot and was barely able to walk for three weeks. My wife tried them on and also noticed a strange, stiff ridge along the outside edge. I'm sending them back for a refund.

I have a challenge with my left swelling when it is humid. The BOA system makes it so much easier to make adjustments and the shoes themselves have flexability. They have great mesh material that allows for air flow and water flow on those rainy days.

They do run about one size small so make sure you get a size bigger.

This is my second pair of the Arnuva 50. I hope they keep making this line. It is the only shoe I wear now.

I've run long distance for 4 years now, and these are by far the best shoe I've bought. The air vents in the front & mesh side construction keep feet dry & blister free. The BOA system eliminates 'tight spots' & stay sung through even the longest of runs. No more stopping to re-tie! They do run smaller than most running shoes I've bought, I wore an 11.5 Mizuno & Brooks, and had to get a 10.5 Arnuva. This will be my only shoe for running from now on!

Decent shoe if you can get them on sale. I would not pay over $100 for them though. Pros: they are very light and well ventilated. Cons: the boa lacing looks faster but is not because you still have to stop several times after you start your run to tighten them (kind of annoying). Finally, and most importantly, there is the heel. The boa screw tightening system is a hard plastic screw located on your heal and there just isn't enough padding between it and your skin. So far I've ran these shoes a little over 100 miles total and they still cause blisters on my heel (and even when you double up on socks).

The wire lacing system is really convenient on those long runs that require quick adjustments. I really dig the dark red and gray version. They are pretty comfortable and work well wrapped around my orthotics.

Imagine buying a $125 shoe that feels like you are running on a piece of cardboard. The cushioning is non-existant and the stability is middling at best. I bought a $23 this weekend that blew it out of the water. Northface---stick to boots!!!
