The North Face Men's Apex Bionic Thermal Jacket's high-loft fleece keeps you warm when the temps drop, and the Apex ClimateBlock fabric blocks the wind so you won’t feel helpless and frozen on gusty days. The standard fit gives you plenty of room for layering when the mercury drops on your winter hike or backpacking trip. Two hand pockets warm your digits when you forget your gloves in the car, and stretch-woven cuffs help keep warm air in.
Bottom Line: Soft, warm fleece backing on a wind-blocking softshell.
Hi, I'm looking to buy one of these, but being an avid runner (and short to begin with), I'm cut REAL slim -- 5'7'', about 125 pounds.Would a small be all floppy on me? Lengthwise, I don't have any problems, but I usually find a lot of room inside...and I just want a tighter/snug North Face coat which is becoming a pipe dream (I even tried on the Pnuematic, and that thing was a bit floppy and loose in the back). Or maybe there's a suggestion for another North Face coat out there?
the momentum fleece jacket, and the cipher jacket, those are very light tho, which would be prefferable for running right?...i dunno i cant even run in my regular apex bionic jacket (let alone the thermal one!)withought overheating, softshells are breathable but not magical! :-)------------------------I agree with the cipher. Either that or look at the Backcountry Rime pullover. Extreme breathability, water resist with some minimal core venting.
This is a great all around jacket. Great looking, fits perfect, waterproof, windproof and very warm. I also own the regular Apex Bionic and this is definitely more of a "cold" weather jacket than it. Warm with a T-shirt underneath down to 40 deg. Add a sweatshirt or a thin fleece and easily comfortable in the single digits. It can get a little too warm indoors for any extended period of time and could benefit from underarm zipper openings for some ventilation. Also, would like to have the chest pocket as on the standard Apex Bionic. I'm 6'1" 185lbs and the large fits well with anything from a t-shirt to a medium weight sweathshirt/fleece underneath.
Nice lightweight jacket. Completely windproof- my friends in their denalis freeze and get wet while i stay dry and warm. i'm 6'1 175, and wear a large just because the chest length of the medium is too short.
hello. i am 5'9". 175 lbs...muscular build. I own another northface jacket that's a medium. What size should I get in the Apex Bionic Thermal Jacket? I have a feeling that a medium will be too snug.
ive had my jacket since dec and i have to say holyyy moly.im not sure if waterproof but id say pretty close ive worn this jacket in a down pour and remained dry.im 5'9 205 and got an xl bein i like to wear hoodys under it.ive worn this jacket down 2 tepmts in the 20's and was very warm. as far as compared 2 a denali; i love my denali but this jacket is way warmer and windproof to where the denali isnt. over all one of the best jackets the north face has ever produced until they do a hoody version,
The regular Bionic has a zipped chest pocket whereas the Bionic Thermal does not. Also, the regular Bionic has straight wrists with no cuffs and Velcro adjustment for tightening up whereas the thermal has slight cuff. I would highly recommend either jacket, just depends on what temperature range you want to wear it in. The thermal is more of a cold weather / winter jacket whereas the regular I would say is a moderate weather jacket for fall or spring.
the regular apex bionic is just a shell backed with a brushed fleece lining, this is the same shell material but is lined with high-loft, thermal fleece for isulation, so this jacket is much warmer
I want to get this jacket for my boyfriend but I am unsure about size. All of his other jackets are smalls but I am unsure if I should order a small for this one as well in case he wants to wear something under it. He is 5 foot 7 and weighs 140 pounds but I am unsure of his arm length.
got 2 of these suckers1 for me and 1 for my fiance and proud 2 say amazinggggggg very warm. ive worn this jacket in 20 degree wheather and was very warm.id say if u were to put this jacket under a gortex jacket ud be ready 4 anything.my only gripe would b the arms r a tad long but other than that id have 2 say im very very pleased.
This is a wonderful jacket! I bought one for my nephew and one for myself, and we both love the jacket's warmth, water and wind repellance, and style. A vest pocket would be a nice addition, and I'd prefer that the cuffs be a bit more snug, but these are tiny complaints next to the kudos I give this jacket. I agree with a previous reviewer: for the money, the Apex Thermal far surpasses the Denali
Fits true to form. Very wind- and water-resistant unlike the North Face Denali. Pockets are fleece-lined and located anatomically well. Warm despite its weight but not suffocating. I just bought mine but it seems very durable. The inside and chin-guard feel almost like short fur, I love it. I bought a large and am satisfied with the fit.

hi, if my son is 5 7" and weighs 140 would he be a small or a medium. i want him to be able to wear a sweater underneath, but the jacket looks like it is cut quite wide.
Just bought mine about a month ago as a discontinued color on sale for almost $50 less than regular. Looks like discontinued colors are still on sale if they have your size.
This jacket is so lightweight and warm for the cold weather up here in Michigan. I've owned North Face before and they last for there quality and comfort.
I bought this for my husband because he had one for 5 years and he wears it everywhere. I mean EVERYWHERE. It looks ugly now so I am replacing it. It is wind proof and much warmer than every other jacket he has ever had. I am sure you will enjoy it too. Customer service was very helpful. Would recommend this website highly.
