The North Face Women's Abby Boots' waterproof velvet suede and nubuck uppers encase shearling sheepskin that wraps your feet in luxury. The Abby's collar folds down to create a short boot, so you can choose your style depending on your mood and how deep the snow gets. A cushiony EVA midsole makes long walks comfortable, and thermoplastic toe protection ensures you won't stub your piggies on a chunk of ice. Primaloft insulation warms your toes, and Winter Grip outsoles keep you grounded. Antimicrobial footbeds prevent odor so your friends won't run away when you take off your boots.
I am a student at UC Berkeley and there is alot of walking in between classes. I love these boots but want to be sure they are rain resistant. I will be walking in the rain and puddles across campus and simply want to be sure they will remain dry that day and ready for use again the next day.
I moved to BC Canada, where it rains almost all the time. I am considering this boots or the North Face Bella Alta. When it comes to waterproof features, which do you think is better?
This boot is not only way cute, but it is way comfortable. I am a true size 7 (6 in Uggs) and the the 7 fits perfectly. It is a bit snug with an athletic sock on, but not uncomfortable in any way. The more I wear these boots the more comfortable they are. Also, this boot is warmer than I thought it would be, but yet not so bulky you couldn't pair it with a skirt and wear on a mild winter day and look totally precious. I purchased the rope brown/barrel brown color. It is a shade or two lighter than the picture indicates, but every single bit as adorable. There is a reason this boot is selling out in popular sizes on most websites. ...So happy I found my size in stock on Backcountry.com...
Hi Gaelan- I wouldn't worry about that aspect of this boot. The outsole has surprisingly beefy lugs for more of a fashion boot. I think you will find that you aren't giving up much traction with this boot. Hope this helps
I searched for a long time trying to find women's waterproof winter boots in a size 5. Because I have high arches, they felt tight across the top of my foot when I first put them on. I wore them for a couple of days and they formed to me perfectly. I have worn them every day since. They are comfy, warm, attractive, and they lace up the front so that I can wear them over my jeans. I have gotten many compliments from both men and women. I might try a black pair if they offer them.
A guru said the 'shaft height' of the Abby boot is 9 1/2". What is the definition of shaft height? Is this from the sole of the boot or from the top of the foot? My wife wants some higher boots than her current North Faces which measure 8" from heel to top of the cuff. I'm not buying these if they are just 1.5" taller. If they are 3-4 " taller then I'm game.
These boots are fabulous looking. But was wondering if anyone else had a problem with the heel? When I walk in them, the heel slouches and the leather bends in towards my heels. It's a funny feeling. But then again, I am wondering if they are too big? I specifically talked to someone on backcountry.com chat and they gave me the exact measurements for a size 6, 6.5, and 7 boot. Well, I bought the 6.5, because my foot measures around 9" and that is what I was told would fit best. I am soooooooooooooooooooo frustrated with the sizing charts being WRONG. I have wasted so much money sending things back and reordering. Argh. So, measure your foot - stand on a ruler, and if it's around 9" get a size 6. I do not want to deal with returning these and am going to deal with a floppy heal, but a piece of me is burning inside because they are $165.
These boots are very very cute. My problem with them is that the description above says "nubuck uppers encase shearling sheepskin that wraps your feet in luxury" Only the very top 2inches or so of the boot actually has any sheep skin inside of it, it's just for looks. Based on the description & the price, I expected these to be fully lined on the inside with sheep skin. They also don't seem like they would be very warm. So, I am a bit disappointed & not to mention that just after I purchased these they went on sale, I paid full price. They also don't have any arch support at all. Again very very cute boots, but for the price, not fully lined in sheep skin & no arch support, I don't know if I love them enough to keep them. Didn't anyone else who purchased these boots think that they were fully lined in the sheep skin? I can't be the only one.
I just received them and don't want to take them off! I have a wider foot and did struggle a little getting them on with a pair of socks. I can't wait to get outside in them. I love the grippers on the bottom too! I think that might just keep me from bubble wrapping myself this winter! Thanks!
I bought these boots a year ago. I wore them every day last winter and am wearing them again this winter. I have truly put them to the test. I haven't treated them at all and they are still waterproof. I am a rockhound and have worn them out hiking through mountains and snow drifts several times. My feet don't get cold in them. They are stylish and comfortable. I can't believe how well they have held up through everything I've put them through, such as this summer when I needed a sturdy pair of hiking boots and they were all I had. I am getting married in January in the snow and am ordering a pair of the white boots to wear under my wedding dress. Yup, I'm that much of a fan of these boots!
I have never tucked my pants into my boots and I usually wear flare pants. I am moving to Alaska for the winter. Will these boots be good under my pants in Alaska's -30 degree weather? How warm are they?
Ok good answer but I bought the shoes already! Ha, so I looked at the boots you recommended and they look like they would keep my feet warm, so I will probably get a pair, however, is there a good sock or something I can wear under these boots because I really like them? What is the best way to make them work in Anchorage?
Hello- for the type of temperatures that you are talking about, I don't think that this boot will be suitable with 200 grams of insulation. Many other North Face boots have twice that amount, and I think they will be more appropriate for cold Alaska winter conditions. Here are some suggestions for 400 gram or more insulated boots: -North Face Greenland Zip Boot -North Face McMurdo Boot -North Face Four Shadows Boot Any of these will work fine under pants. Hope this helps
I LOVE these boots! I usually wear a 7.5 or 8, and after reading reviews that said it runs small, I ordered the 8 and 8.5. THe 8 was a bit snug with socks, but the 8.5 too big so I sent it back. The 8's have stretched out enough to become my favorite winter boots. They feel springy and soft. I can even tuck my jeans into them, which is unusual since I have a fairly wide calf. And after trudging through snow and ice, the waterproofing is proven. I have them in white, and I get compliments wherever I go.
I love these boots! They are very comfortable with thick socks or regular socks, they are light weight, and are awesome for snow or ice. I wear them under work pants or over jeans. I have also received many compliments and questions on where to find them! I have them in white, and the waterproof protection helps keep it nice and clean. I won't wear any other boots this winter!
I absoluetly love these boots! I have never owned anything from this brand and was a little nervous, but I knew they would be of good quality. After reading the reviews I knew I would love them. They are super comfortable and super stylish. My jeans fit well when I tuck them in. I love that they tie up so you can adjust how tight or loose you want them. When I wore them on ice for the first time, they were gripy. I got so many compliments when I wore them to class for the first day, I highly recommend these. I would say they are a must have if you live in a town that has good winters.
I recently bought some of these Abbey II boots and my jeans faded on them while I crossed my legs. What can i do to get the blue out of the fabric. I'm so sick over this, this was my first time wearing them. Thanks,Judy
There's some stuff called Thore-O you can pick up at most any grocery store. That stuff will get about anything out of just about anything. If that doesn't work I would say to think about returning them. Backcountry.com's return policy is no questions asked. They'll ship you out a brand new pair of boots.Hope that helps.
I bought these boots in the moonlight ivory color and absolutely love them! They are so comfy and keep my feet really warm. Plus, they are super cute. I wore them to school today and got tons of compliments on them. Everyone wanted to know where I purcashed them from. I live in a town where we get a lot of snow and ice and the grippy soles on these boots are perfect for those winter conditions.
I wear these boots under jeans every day. The only issue I've ever had is I have one particular pair of jeans that seem to cling a bit to the boots. If I sit down when I stand up I have to slide the pant legs down the few inches they crept up. With every other pair of jeans I own I have no issues with the boots. They look great.
Maybe just a touch, but nothing outrageous. I wear bootcut jeans and can tuck these in even with the widest part of my calf measuring 14.5". Jeans also look good rolled up to about halfway up the boot (so you can still see the detail). I would not pair these with wide-leg pants, though, unless you do not tuck in the pants.
The North Face Abby II boot is a great true to size fit, warm, comfortable, lightweight, and very stylish. I have worn these boots out shopping and it feels like you are bouncing on a cloud. I love the grippers on the bottom for icy sidewalks and roads. I plan to use these for an ice fishing tournament in a few weeks. That will be the true test for waterproofness and warmth. I have no doubt that they will be perfect! I have them in the rope brown color and they are beautiful!
i love them! these are the best boots ever. i got the espresso brown and they match really good with my north face jacket. received a lot of compliments. there very light and comfy, so perfect!
They should fit you just fine. The best thing is just jump on "live chat" and ask them. They'll be able to look up if there are any on order and a rough expected arrival date.
I bought this boots for my wife, she wears 6.5, so I bought the 6.5 and fit perfect, she loves the way they look and feel, and the wont slip in icy surfaces, now she is ready for winters worst, thanks backcountry
I bought these after verifying with the online chat person that the sheepskin went right through the boot. When they arrived, the sheepskin was not sheepskin at all, but faux (not stated on web site); and it only went down a couple of inches: the rest of the lining was smooth nylon-type material. Backcountry accepted them back and took care of the shipping charges. Their customer service is excellent.
2 weeks I got the car stuck in snow (of course in Chicago) and was worried about the same thing. I avoided kicking the tires and used the boots to dig out my car out of the snow, and it was dirty alley snow... and boots were still perfect afterward! The waterproof suede really works, and the added bonus my feet were still warm. I don't think I'd stand in snow the whole time but I love these boots.
I just returned from a 3 week trip to Europe during the winter. I can't say enough good things about these boots!! They were perfect! Very lightweight in my bag, extra comfortable during miles of walking, waterproof, warm, and super cute. We participated in all kinds of snow activities in Switzerland and my feet are ALWAYS cold. Not this time! I couldn't believe how warm and dry my feet stayed even while using my shoes and feet as breaks on my toboggan. : ) Initially I had to try a couple of pairs because something in the back of the heel/calf was digging into my leg but now that I found the right pair I would never give these up! There is no comparison to the other ugly 'moon-boot' style waterproof boots that I have seen out there. I love these!
I know these say that they are waterproof, but what happens if you step in slush or puddles? Does water seep through since the laces start so low on the boot?
I'm a Southern Californian, who doesn't like to be cold. I bought these boots before going to the inauguration in DC, and wore them for 6 days straight. In 16 degree, windy weather, they kept me warm. When I walked over 15 miles in one day, they were comfortable. It was shocking. I continued to wear them on cold or wet days when I returned home. These boots are one of the best purchases I have ever made!
i typically wear a 9 1/2 or 10 in a running shoe. would a 10 the right size here as well. the size chart compares the womens 9 to the mens 8, normally the men's and the ladies is 1 1/2 sizes difference so i am a bit confused.
I would definitely do the 10. These boots don't slop around much at all with extra room and with a little extra room you'll be able to use different socks for warmth.
The boot very is comfortable, light weight, and warm. I'm looking forward to wearing them on my trip to Wisconsin. Great Buy, Wonderful and quick service.
I want boots that are fashionable / 'trendy" like the UGGS, but I also need them to be practical for winter time. Do you think these will look good with jeans, but also transfer over to working hard in the snow?
They fit very well, super soft. The footbed isn't quite as supportive as I need, but I'll toss in a pair of nice insoles and they will be perfect. The laces make it very easy to get a customized fit. I usually wear between a 7 1/2 and an 8. the 7 1/2 are perfect.
I got the boots in the mail a couple weeks ago and have been wearing them ever since. I can't testify to their warmth since I received them in March and, therefore, they haven't been through a true Canadian winter. But it's as slippery as a skating rink out there and the grip on these boots is excellent. The only downside I've experienced so far is that while the lace up lets you tighten the boot around your leg, the foot part is quite spacious and has no arch support. If you tighten the laces enough it counteracts this a bit, but I definitely wouldn't buy even a half size bigger and I'd consider buying arch supports to make them more comfortable and snug up the fit a little. All in all, I am pleased!
First of all, Jan, there's no need to scream. Second, if you're going to be wearing several layers of sox or extremely thick socks, then I'd go up to the 9, but otherwise, stick with the 8.5. Additionally, for size/color availability please refer to the "select options" drop-down box beneath the product's pricing information.
I own the other Abby boots and they are plenty roomy. I usually wear a size 10 and I have room enough for heavy socks. They are the most comfortable and warmest boots that I own. To be truthful I like them better than my UGGS since I don't see everyone with them on.
