The North Face Abby II Winter Boot - Women's

The North Face Women's Abby Boots' waterproof velvet suede and nubuck uppers encase shearling sheepskin that wraps your feet in luxury. The Abby's collar folds down to create a short boot, so you can choose your style depending on your mood and how deep the snow gets. A cushiony EVA midsole makes long walks comfortable, and thermoplastic toe protection ensures you won't stub your piggies on a chunk of ice. Primaloft insulation warms your toes, and Winter Grip outsoles keep you grounded. Antimicrobial footbeds prevent odor so your friends won't run away when you take off your boots.

Bottom Line: Winter ready and loaded with style.

I searched for a long time trying to find women's waterproof winter boots in a size 5. Because I have high arches, they felt tight across the top of my foot when I first put them on. I wore them for a couple of days and they formed to me perfectly. I have worn them every day since. They are comfy, warm, attractive, and they lace up the front so that I can wear them over my jeans. I have gotten many compliments from both men and women. I might try a black pair if they offer them.

I have never tucked my pants into my boots and I usually wear flare pants. I am moving to Alaska for the winter. Will these boots be good under my pants in Alaska's -30 degree weather? How warm are they?

Ok good answer but I bought the shoes already! Ha, so I looked at the boots you recommended and they look like they would keep my feet warm, so I will probably get a pair, however, is there a good sock or something I can wear under these boots because I really like them? What is the best way to make them work in Anchorage?

Hello- for the type of temperatures that you are talking about, I don't think that this boot will be suitable with 200 grams of insulation. Many other North Face boots have twice that amount, and I think they will be more appropriate for cold Alaska winter conditions. Here are some suggestions for 400 gram or more insulated boots:
-North Face Greenland Zip Boot
-North Face McMurdo Boot
-North Face Four Shadows Boot
Any of these will work fine under pants.
Hope this helps

I'm a Southern Californian, who doesn't like to be cold. I bought these boots before going to the inauguration in DC, and wore them for 6 days straight. In 16 degree, windy weather, they kept me warm. When I walked over 15 miles in one day, they were comfortable. It was shocking. I continued to wear them on cold or wet days when I returned home. These boots are one of the best purchases I have ever made!

I LOVE these boots! I usually wear a 7.5 or 8, and after reading reviews that said it runs small, I ordered the 8 and 8.5. THe 8 was a bit snug with socks, but the 8.5 too big so I sent it back. The 8's have stretched out enough to become my favorite winter boots. They feel springy and soft. I can even tuck my jeans into them, which is unusual since I have a fairly wide calf. And after trudging through snow and ice, the waterproofing is proven. I have them in white, and I get compliments wherever I go.

I love these boots! They are very comfortable with thick socks or regular socks, they are light weight, and are awesome for snow or ice. I wear them under work pants or over jeans. I have also received many compliments and questions on where to find them! I have them in white, and the waterproof protection helps keep it nice and clean. I won't wear any other boots this winter!

There's some stuff called Thore-O you can pick up at most any grocery store. That stuff will get about anything out of just about anything. If that doesn't work I would say to think about returning them. Backcountry.com's return policy is no questions asked. They'll ship you out a brand new pair of boots.Hope that helps.

I absoluetly love these boots! I have never owned anything from this brand and was a little nervous, but I knew they would be of good quality. After reading the reviews I knew I would love them. They are super comfortable and super stylish. My jeans fit well when I tuck them in. I love that they tie up so you can adjust how tight or loose you want them. When I wore them on ice for the first time, they were gripy. I got so many compliments when I wore them to class for the first day, I highly recommend these. I would say they are a must have if you live in a town that has good winters.

Maybe just a touch, but nothing outrageous. I wear bootcut jeans and can tuck these in even with the widest part of my calf measuring 14.5". Jeans also look good rolled up to about halfway up the boot (so you can still see the detail). I would not pair these with wide-leg pants, though, unless you do not tuck in the pants.

I bought these boots in the moonlight ivory color and absolutely love them! They are so comfy and keep my feet really warm. Plus, they are super cute. I wore them to school today and got tons of compliments on them. Everyone wanted to know where I purcashed them from. I live in a town where we get a lot of snow and ice and the grippy soles on these boots are perfect for those winter conditions.

By:
January 2, 2009

The North Face Abby II boot is a great true to size fit, warm, comfortable, lightweight, and very stylish. I have worn these boots out shopping and it feels like you are bouncing on a cloud. I love the grippers on the bottom for icy sidewalks and roads. I plan to use these for an ice fishing tournament in a few weeks. That will be the true test for waterproofness and warmth. I have no doubt that they will be perfect! I have them in the rope brown color and they are beautiful!

Not exactly as described

By:
January 9, 2009

I bought these after verifying with the online chat person that the sheepskin went right through the boot. When they arrived, the sheepskin was not sheepskin at all, but faux (not stated on web site); and it only went down a couple of inches: the rest of the lining was smooth nylon-type material. Backcountry accepted them back and took care of the shipping charges. Their customer service is excellent.

2 weeks I got the car stuck in snow (of course in Chicago) and was worried about the same thing. I avoided kicking the tires and used the boots to dig out my car out of the snow, and it was dirty alley snow... and boots were still perfect afterward! The waterproof suede really works, and the added bonus my feet were still warm. I don't think I'd stand in snow the whole time but I love these boots.

Love These Boots!

By:
January 7, 2009

I just returned from a 3 week trip to Europe during the winter. I can't say enough good things about these boots!! They were perfect! Very lightweight in my bag, extra comfortable during miles of walking, waterproof, warm, and super cute. We participated in all kinds of snow activities in Switzerland and my feet are ALWAYS cold. Not this time! I couldn't believe how warm and dry my feet stayed even while using my shoes and feet as breaks on my toboggan. : ) Initially I had to try a couple of pairs because something in the back of the heel/calf was digging into my leg but now that I found the right pair I would never give these up! There is no comparison to the other ugly 'moon-boot' style waterproof boots that I have seen out there. I love these!

i typically wear a 9 1/2 or 10 in a running shoe. would a 10 the right size here as well. the size chart compares the womens 9 to the mens 8, normally the men's and the ladies is 1 1/2 sizes difference so i am a bit confused.

I would definitely do the 10. These boots don't slop around much at all with extra room and with a little extra room you'll be able to use different socks for warmth.

By:
February 2, 2009

They fit very well, super soft. The footbed isn't quite as supportive as I need, but I'll toss in a pair of nice insoles and they will be perfect. The laces make it very easy to get a customized fit. I usually wear between a 7 1/2 and an 8. the 7 1/2 are perfect.

These boots are great!

By:
April 6, 2009

I got the boots in the mail a couple weeks ago and have been wearing them ever since. I can't testify to their warmth since I received them in March and, therefore, they haven't been through a true Canadian winter. But it's as slippery as a skating rink out there and the grip on these boots is excellent. The only downside I've experienced so far is that while the lace up lets you tighten the boot around your leg, the foot part is quite spacious and has no arch support. If you tighten the laces enough it counteracts this a bit, but I definitely wouldn't buy even a half size bigger and I'd consider buying arch supports to make them more comfortable and snug up the fit a little. All in all, I am pleased!

First of all, Jan, there's no need to scream. Second, if you're going to be wearing several layers of sox or extremely thick socks, then I'd go up to the 9, but otherwise, stick with the 8.5. Additionally, for size/color availability please refer to the "select options" drop-down box beneath the product's pricing information.
