The North Face constructed the Men's Foundation Bibs for powder hounds who want a baggy fit. These burly pants' full bib provides a barrier against the pow that'll keep you dry and happy. The Foundation Bibs have articulated knees and ample ventilation, making them ideal for backcountry skiing. They also perform wonderfully in-bounds since The North Face seam-sealed their waterproof breathable HyVent shell. You won't need to worry about water soaking through on those unpadded chairlifts anymore.
Bottom Line: The North Face gives you the foundation of a bomber skiing get-up with these durable bibs.
I think these pants are totally kick ass. I am on my second pair and will again be using these until they no longer look like pants, then I will likely be getting another pair... I ski in them almost exclusively, and the bib style has virtually erased the 'butt glacier' phenomenon, as well and the chest chills from snow blowing up into your coat on those nipple deep blower days. In short, there isn't really anything I would change about these pants. They're simple, functional, waterproof, and they handle a beating.
These pants do what they say I was dry, happy, and warm skiing over 100 days last year at Jackson Hole 700+ inch winter, I used these pants every day all season all conditions, But as far as wear and tear they are a 1-2 season pant, I am buying another I liked them so much
These are very comfortable bib's. They are a little baggy in the lower legs but not too bad. I am big, 6' 230 lb and the xtra large were perfect. Just enough room to tuck in mid layers with room to breath. The only minor complaint is the side zip entry but it isn't that big of a deal.
I have used these in 50 and 2 degree weather with only Capilene underwear and was totally comfortable in both. The leg vents were handy when it was warmer.
I wore these for for a week straight, all day long, inside and outside on a job in the mountains. Excellent. Weather was anything from blizzarding to warm and sunny. I wore a thin set of longies as a base layer. Length is perfect and I wear a 35" inseam. I want North Face to make the gaitor much tighter. If you're wearing pac boots like Sorels, the gaitor is not tight at all. Overall, these are fantastic bibs!
i would go large, im about a 38 and found the xl was just a touch to skinny through the mid section so i feel like these may run a bit small hope this helps!
I wore these bibs on an epic 4-days of powder over the holiday and really loved them. Not having to remove snow from my crack periodically throughout the day was a definite improvement to previous days in normal snow pants. These pants were great for numerous days of boarding. HOWEVER, I also like to hit the backcountry slopes with my snowshoes and my board on my back. This worries me because these pants were pretty baggy. I've got a feeling that they will accidentally catch and tear within this first season because of the amount of fabric. I'm about 6'2" 175lbs (kind of a bean pole) so it is hard to find a bib with a long enough inseam that isn't a little baggy and that's exactly the problem with these (size Large). I'd still recommend them but with the stipulation that if you are mainly using them for a sport like skiing or snowshoeing beware of the baggy legs! and if you are as skinny as me you might want to try a belt in addition to the suspenders because these have no elastic or sinch around the waist
I'm a PSIA certified ski instructor so I spend a lot of time hanging out on the hill and have been very happy with these pants so far this season. The multiple pockets are big and easy to get to, which I love when I'm teaching a class and need to constantly reach for pencils and note cards. I have yet to have a day where I felt either cold or overheated in theses pants. A simple thermal base layer under them does the trick. I'm a 32 waist, and 32 inseam and the mediums fit just right. The waist is snug but comfortable and the legs flare out enough at the cuff to make them easy to slide on and off ski boots even with gloves on. Perfect for when you need to adjust your boots on-hill on a cold, windy day.
I am interested in Item #TNF3585. I have waist 38 inches and inseam 29 inches and I guess that L, short inseam, would be OK. How do I know the inseam size for your product? Thanks,Razvan
just any fyi, im a 38 and felt like i needed to go up to a xxl with these, personally i would recomend the XL if your thinking about the L. hope this helps.
I love 'em. 32 waist, 34 inseam and the Large fits perfectly. Pockets are in all the right places and are secure. Cuffs don't seem to be getting slashed up by edges like some other pants. And they're warm but the leg vents work well to cool off when hiking.
I bought these to ski VT in late December. Single digit weather and blowing snow at Stowe but these bibs worked great. Very comfortable and an excellent fit. I'm 5'11" and 195 lbs and the Large was perfect. Lots of pockets with zips and storm flaps also made cell phone and trail map easily accessible.
Haven't worn these pants out in the elements yet but just an fyi on the sizing as Id seen a few reviews about it. im 6'3 225 lbs and found the XL to be just a touch on the small side through the waist and upper legs. tried them on without thermals etc and dont have a gut or big legs. Got the XXL and they have plenty of room. I do like a little roomier fit though. they seem like a great bib. hope this helps.
These bibs are great I am 5'6'' and 135lbs and have a 31'' waist. The mediums fit a little baggy and long but don't feel huge. I am able to fit my padded shorts on under them and not feel to restricted. The leg cuffs will take some abuse as long as you are not walking directly on them. They have stayed water resistant for some time now at least 50+ days but are needing a wash and reapplication of nikwax tx spray on and they should be good as new. The vents on the upper part of each leg have mesh in them let enough air in to cool you off. I have noticed that I need to adjust the suspenders one every two times out but other than that they don't slip much at all. I really like these bibs for the price. I would go with he mountain hardware exposure II bibs if I was looking for a back country ski bib as they have full leg zips.
