The North Face Shugga One-Piece Snow Suit - Women's
No fluffy, heavenly, floaty white powder gets through The North Face Women’s Shugga One-Piece Snow Suit. You might think a one-piece sounds rather 70s, but this suit has a wide, urban-style belt and a sleek fit. HyVent fabric and fully taped seams handle wet weather while Underarm zips, thigh vents, and gaiter vents create a full-body Chimney Venting system when you’re booting up for freshies in the resort. Synthetic insulation in the knees and lighter insulation in the body and seat of The North Face Shugga add warmth.
Bottom Line: Full-body warmth when you want it, tons of vents when you don’t.
Write your question here... Buying it for a girlfriend, she lives in Spain for a French ski trip in January! She skied one time before, complained she was cold which is why I want a onepiece for her. She is about 5 11 not fat but not thin! L or XL?
Hi Ray - This one piece is made to have more of a freeride roomy fit, so I think you will be better off with the XL. It will also give her more room to wear a couple layers under it which will be nice if she gets cold a lot. Hope this helps
I SO wanted this to work for me - the quality and workmanship on this snow suit are perfection and I absolutely love the stylish look. However, I tried a medium based on my measurements (I'm barely a medium in TNF measurements) and I was literally swimming in the suit. I should have known because all my TNF jackets are smalls despite the measurements chart showing me as a barely-medium. I had ordered the black and the reviewers before me are right - it is more of a charcoal, which is actually more flattering. A couple weeks later I saw a small was back in stock so I ordered it - everything was perfect except for the pant length; too short! I'm almost 5'7" and these were about an inch off the floor in bare feet. To me that is too short. This time the color I got was the blue - and it definitely is bright! But in a fashionable way, not too kid-like.
concerning my question below, I only want to add that my girlfriend has about 140 lb at size 5'7". What size does her fit (not too baggy) if underneath sweater should be possible?
I've just bought it from backcountry.com and satisfied with all. I'm 170sm height and about M size in clothes, but I bought L size suit - so it fits baggy on me. May be I could buy smaller size, but even this is ok, as I feel comfortable in it. It's a bit insulated and I think even in -10 c it's ok with fleece jacket under. Material is Bright and Saterated Blue color, looks like jeans. Like it.
hilaree o neil, north face athlete, is almost 5'10 and wears a large. she could wear a med if the shoulders were more broad. she has strong shoulders but slim hips...maybe this helps?
I just received my new suit. It's awesome. Waaaaaaaaaaay cooler than the Burton one piece I bought last year (which was wearing out on the knees and butt) I am 5'8" and about 165 and the large was a good fit. Just the right amount of room for layering underneath. I ordered black and was happily surprised to see that it's actually more of a graphite grey colour. Definitely NOT black. Very cool!
Write your comment here... was the large a baggy or snug fit for yuo? I'm simialr height weight and really wanna buy one but can't find any outlets that stock so i can try it!
How should this fit? Straight with the belt low? On the NF site one of the pics shows the suit with the belt tightened and the top part pulled up slightly.
i know we all run very different in temperature but i tend to run cold. i wear this suit everyday with just a thin wool base layer. on a very cold day i might an an extra lightweight sweater but never more...just another opinion...
No definately not!! I bought this suit and it was not warm at all, especially on top!! To be honest I was very disappointed, I had hoped that with the price and the reputation of North Face that I would be toasty warm. I actually returned it and bought the Columbia Red Hot Jumpsuit. It has 100 grams of insulation throughout where this suit has only 40 grams on top and 70 grams on parts of the bottom. I still wear a sweater and thermals under the Columbia but I am a VERY big wimp when it comes to cold weather.
This suit is CHEAP for the incredible quality, the thoughtful design, and how well it has performed. With adding few more or less layers of icebreaker underneath, this suit has performed awesome and kept me at perfect temp from skiing in warm 2C and no wind, to crazy -22C with harsh winds (when my uber skier boyfriend was whining about being cold and I was still doing great). I always came home the driest on powder days, even though I took my share of tumbles (thank you one-piece). The whole design is genius, and quite flattering. I have received many compliments on how it looks.
I'm 5'6" and about 138 lbs. The size small fits me perfect and is comfortable, though I could have gone to a medium if I wanted a really baggy park look.
On one day of rain skiing, water did seem to soak into the top fabric layer, but I still felt drier than everyone else as the thin insulating layer kept moisture away from the inside.
If I had to do it over, I would consider paying double for this garment, and I'm a cheap ski bum. I've worn it almost 40 days skiing so far this winter, in all conditions. Wouldn't leave home without it.
