When Mother Nature turns her cold shoulder on you, zip into The North Face Women's Foil Thermal Jacket. The Foil's 550-fill down insulation and stretch fleece sleeves provide comfort when the mercury drops. Wear the Foil Thermal Jacket alone while you walk around town after a day on the hill, or layer it on those frigid January mornings on the slopes. The thumbhole loops keep the stretch fleece sleeves comfortably in place while you ski, hike, or just hang out around town. And the Foil's asymmetrical neck zip and side entry zippers won't rub your chin down to the bone when you have it zipped all the way up.
Bottom Line: Ruin winter's cold-hearted plans with The North Face Foil Thermal Jacket.
I got this jacket for snowshoeing, and it works perfectly. I stayed warm the entire time, and loved that I was able to move so well instead of being hindered by bulky clothing. I wore the jacket with just a midweight thermal top and that was enough to stay toasty warm, even when I stopped to rest at the top of the mountain.
This jacket is adorable and super easy to move around in, but no, Nicole, I wouldn't wear it in -4 degree weather all by itself. The sleeves are not down filled, they're some stretchy, not very warm fabric. It is also not waterproof. Still, I adore mine, I bought the White, size small. Fits nicely (5'1", 120) and is quite warm enough for my purposes (lowest temp I've worn it in so has been about 30 F, but I haven't owned it for a winter yet).
I was wondering how warm this jacket really is. I'm moving to New York City in the fall and I'm trying to find a jacket that isn't too bulky but is warm enough for winters up north.
I'm 5'7" about 110 to 115 lb. My parent's got me this jacket for Christmas and well the arms fit perfectly and the fit is great, but the torso is a little too short for me! So if you're tall and have a long torso I don't suggest this item, but if you have a little shorter torso than this jacket will fit like a glove!
I'd been looking for a vest that will work as a layering piece for winter sports as well as something stylish that i could pull on to run to/from the gym and on errands. When I saw this product, i knew it was for me. The design is unique and chic. So it's even served me well in business casual settings.
I'm a bit on the short and curvy side, so I love that there are zippers on both sides of the body for a tighter or looser fit over my hips. This also helps to control how much heat I want to retain (along with the neck zipper) depending on the temperature and where I am (indoors/outdoors). It's machine washable for easy maintenance as well. Recommended.

I saw this in Val d' Isere (where they had a great lime colour), and thought it looked great, and loved the stretchy sleeves, but was pretty disappointed that it didn't come in an XL. I don't know if that would have made a difference for us more "bustylicious" girls, though. The fir on me was very short, the diagonal seams from neck to armpit were pretty stiff, cut at an odd angle & made for an odd fit, and the top shoulder seam was very narrow, which does nothing but make your shoulders look, well,, narrow. Would probably look good on a size 0 gal.
