The North Face Plasma Thermal Jacket - Women's - 2008

PrimaLoft insulation in The North Face Women's Plasma Thermal Jacket eliminates the need for extra layers when you wear this jacket into the mountains this winter. The Plasma's fully seam-taped, waterproof breathable HyVent shell stops all moisture from getting in and soaking your core. The Plasma Thermal Jacket includes a helmet-compatible hood with a laminated brim for excellent head and face protection while you climb in foul weather.

Bottom Line: Stay toasty when you head to the mountains.

Oops, one more thing

One thing I forgot to mention, the reason I gave it only 4 stars and my only complaint is that sometimes the zipper it hard to zip and get connected at the bottom.

No, it's not zip-in compatible. Even so, it's insulated so unless you're going to extreme cold, you wouldn't need a fleece that heavy- a quarter-zip one will be plenty warm, in my opinion.

Best ever!

I was very hesitant about the price but am so glad I bought it anyway! I'm from Alaska, but live in Utah now, which has winters that only get down to about 10 degrees. But this baby traveled with me up to AK this past January, which is the coldest month of year there, and I was nice and toasty! My legs and nose were numb, but my core couldn't've been happier in this jacket. It's so lightweight, it wasn't a pain in the as.s to lug around on the plane rides like other jackets can be. It's great for snowboarding, keeps windchill out! Great for super cold Alaskan weather, but comfortable enough to take the dogs and a 5 mile walk in a Utah snowstorm. This jacket rocks!

Expensive... but worth it!

By:

I LOVE this jacket.. I bought it because I liked how lightweight it was and it fits nice and snug (I am an xs) and not as loose as most other north face this size. But then I really wore it a lot, and it is surprisingly very very warm, and extremely waterproof. Well worth the money. by the way, I bought mine last year and the hood does zip off, so unless they changed this year's styles, which I doubt, that is a wonderful feature, as are the pit-vents. Coat also has a comfort range of around 0F - 50F, which is wonderful because its great for winter and those awful rainy spring days we get here in Rochester.

It depends what you mean by winter. This jacket alone with the hood up will keep you warm to well below freezing.

Fantastic

Great coat, bought it last season. I wasn't thrilled with the price tag, but it fit perfectly and keeps me warm on those cold Boston days. I also liked that the insulation was PrimaLoft. It is very water-proof and very, very warm, though it doesn't have the feel of a heavy coat (i.e., it's very light-weight). Overall, awesome coat!!!

Warm and lightweight!

December 18, 2008

I love this jacket! I was hesitant about the price, but I'm glad I bought it. I live in Utah and am from Alaska. This is not a bulky jacket and has kept me warm and toasty on morning dog walks. I've brought it up to AK in winter and haven't been cold. I love the fact that I don't feel like a marshmallow. The only thing I don't like is the zipper! It takes a little manuevering to get it to connect and it doesn't zip up very smooth, but other than that this jacket does great in cold and snow!

THE HOOD DOES NOT ZIP OFF! AND THERE IS A SIZING CHART TO TELL YOU WHAT SIZE TO ORDER! WRAP A MEASURING TAPE AROUND YOURSELF AND CHOOSE ACCORDINGLY! AND quit using caps lock, it's really irritating.

I absolutely love this jacket - it is everything I had hoped for - warm, but not bulky, wonderfully made, pockets and zippers for everything you could want. I do have a little trouble with the zipper as well.

I love my new jacket

I'm from cold and windy Nova Scotia, and just had a tremendous day skiing.....Not bulky, yet warm and easy to maneuver in, kept me warm on the chair lift at -15C. Shovelled the driveway today and felt comfy and not stiff....Great jacket for outdoor activities. although i agree about the zipper ....seems to need tlc when using it

Warm???

By:
December 9, 2008

I spend my winters in northern MN, ND, and WI and am constantly freezing. I was excited to read the wonderful reviews this jacket got and decided to order it. It looks and fits great BUT it is NOT warm. I'm not sure where the other people who give this jacket great reviews are from... but it was def not warm enough for me. I returned it and got a warmer jacket for a cheaper pricetag! This jacket would be better for people who live in more mild climates
