The North Face Allegheny Bx Sleeping Bag: 40 Degree Rectangular Synthetic - 2008

The North Face used polyester fiber insulation in the Allegheny Bx 40 Degree Rectangular Synthetic Sleeping Bag, so your bag won't end up looking as flat as a pancake after a few weeks of summer camping. The polyester fibers have variable thicknesses, which lets the Allegheny Bx Bag retain its loft and packability. The Allegheny 40 Degree Bag unzips and lies flat for star gazing on warm nights, and this synthetic bag zips with other compatible bags so you and your honey can share the warmth.

Bottom Line: Use The North Face Allegheny Bx 40 Degree Rectangular Sleeping Bag as a blanket on warm nights and as a bag on chillier summer trips.

Great bag...if you're thin

By:
May 13, 2009

I loved the muted dark green of the bag and my primary concern at the time was packed size. This packs down to a nice 7x12 (a lot less with a proper compression sack).

One thing I didn't check was the girth, since it was ME who failed to check I can't fault the bag with a lower rating like the other guy did.

I slept like a baby who was nicely tucked in and was nice and warm down to roughly 35-45 degrees wearing just a t-shirt and flannel pajamas while backyard camping at various friends homes during a long motorcycle road trip.

I ended up giving the sleeping bag away and bought one that was a full 36" wide because I like to move around while I sleep.

If you're a thin guy this bag would make a great summer time bag for you. I don't care for the bright colors of the 2009 model personally.

yeah you can pick up a compression sack. Check out the Granite Gear Round rock solid compression sack url below. You would want to go with the small bag for a good fit. http://www.backcountry.com/store/GRG0005/Granite-Gear-Round-Rock-Solid-Compression-Sack.html

Not a fat mans bag

I love this bag but due to my big chest I cant move around really well. I have the long one and its plenty big in that regard but I think this was meant for a skinny guy. Everything else is great. great fabric, feels smooth to the skin. Excellent zipper.
