The North Face XTC Lightweight Crew - Men's - 2007

Tired of your base layers restricting your movement? The North Face Men's XTC Lightweight Crew has underarm gussets for a full range of motion. This long-sleeve shirt's grid-texture fabric grabs sweat and whisks it away from your skin. The North Face made this base layer top from bamboo-infused polyester. Bamboo's natural antimicrobial properties help prevent odor when you work up a sweat on backcountry yo-yo runs, and polyester dries quickly to keep you comfortable. The XTC Crew's flatlocked seams eliminate pressure points and chafing.

Bottom Line: For lightweight, moisture-wicking base insulation, go with a top that keeps you mobile—The North Face XTC Crew.

Good base layer

By:

I haven't used it much yet, but it seems OK for the job. One of the reasons I haven't used it that much is that it turned out to be a bit short for me. I am 6'4" and based on research, I bought the large. If you're tall like me, you definitely want to go with the XL (I normally would, but thought this one would be longer). I push up the sleeves and for the cold climbing gym I got to, it's a nice base-layer. It doesn't seem super warm however, compared to my wool base-layer, but it gets the job done.

Warm and Toasty

Great base layer. It feels great skiing, breathes well and keeps in the warmth. It looks good too.

The XTC is a good base layer for skiing and mountaineering. It works well in warmer weather when I have to strip to my base layer, because it has a mesh-like fabric that breathes really well. The light grey color especially works well for this, since it doesn't absorb the sun as much as the black. I wore this thing for 16 days straight earlier this year, and it repelled the stink well.
