Great together, and the shell is great by itself. However,the fleece although incredibly soft, is very short, but I am a nursing mommy so my chest is a bit large now :)

I just got the xs in the mail today. It is pretty short, about 21" maybe. Overall, its not very fitting for an xs, feels bulky. I liked that it came with the fleece, but its not cute enough to wear on its own; I'll be returning this one. I purchased two other jackets at the same time, the Foursquare Angela (xs) and Special Blend Spice (s). LOVE the Foursquare one, its light weight, removable skirt, versatile, fitting, and easy to wear a layer under - a keeper. The Special Blend one is really comfortable and incredibly warm - the green is a bit bright and I was about to return it but it's beginning to grow on me.

Coat was very warm, but the inside jacket was extremely short. It would have been a keeper if the inside jacket was longer.

I just got the xs in the mail today. The inner fleece, as many have noted, is pretty short, about 21" maybe. Super soft, it's not cute or fitting enough to wear on its own - kinda boxy. The jacket overall is shorter than I imagined from the pictures, and it felt boxy for an xs, it was pretty loose, not flattering at all. I was so excited to get this one, but less than satisfied when I put it on. I'll be returning it. this jacket has the snap in liner, It will hit at the hips. see how the bottom of the jacket hits a little above where the arms fall. Hyvent is basically another breathable waterproof membrane just like gore-tex. So you will get the waterproofing that you need. This jacket will be killer awesome for you! If you are right on the cusp of wear small sometimes and medium sometimes, then go with a small, unless you need the length in the sleeves. North face tends to run a tad larger...inbetween sizing go down.

Great outer shell, I loved the color and it was very wind resistant. The inside was very warm, and felt like a cozy blanket. However, I also found it was extremely... extremely short. I had to return mine because the inside could never be worn alone because it looked silly and felt awkward on my arms underneath the shell. If you have a short torso and short arms this will fit you good, but everyone else might want to get a larger size or choose a different jacket.

It is the best jacket I ever had. Went to Oregon with it some days were 30 some 70. it was perfect. The wind was 40mph and I barely felt it. I 4 wheeled went kiting and to dinner. Perfect jacket. Can't wait to take to VT this Fall.

I went snowboarding for the first time...this jacket worked perfect!! the liner kept me warm and the outer shell wasn't too bulky! i highly recommend this! plus...i got compliments all day on it.

I have been looking for a North Face jacket for a while now and when I found this one... I was really happy with the colors and the style. It is really warm, rain and wind resistant! The inner fleece is soo very soft, but is too short to wear on its own??? I will prob. never wear separately??? But the combo is fantastic!!! Already had a bunch of compliments on it!!!!
Highly recommend!!!
