Do your ski pants soak up water like a sponge? Get The North Face Men's Liberation Pant to keep yourself dry no matter how sloppy the snow gets. These 2-layer waterproof breathable Gore-Tex shell pants keep you dry through a February snowstorm and breathe well on March bluebird days. A hook-and-loop-closure adjustable waist and integrated gaiters keep your pants from filling with snow every time you take a digger in the freshies.
Bottom Line: It's a lot harder to have fun when you're soaking wet, so stay dry with The North Face Men's Liberation Pant.
Is it possible to get these on/off with boots on? I know they have ventilation zips but do they widen the bottom of the leg enough? I am looking for a relatively inexpensive new bottom to wear over the gs suit so I don't freeze my boys off...
I don't think you will have an easy time trying to get ski boots through these pants. I would look at The North Face Varius Guide Pants - they are about the same price, and have the full side zip which I think will work way better for a racing cover-up.
Title says it all. Great fit, breathes well, completely water proof, and surprisingly tough. I only wish the edge guards on the pant legs were a little bigger.
Great pant - light and functional. The outer fabric protects Gore Tex style and the inner lining is of mesh fabric. I used it in the mountains without additional long underwear and they were comfortable. The three pockets are enough and the zippers work well. The adjustable waist size is a welcome feature, however, you can only adjust a few inches, so use the sizing chart to find your correct size.
The North Face sizing chart shows the L as fitting a 36-38 in waist.....the inseam info is listed as short, regular and long. But when ordering the item, there is no input area for the inseam needed. How do you order the correct length?
These pants are amazing, i have a 30 32 pants size and should have gone with a small but medium works fine just tighten them up since they are adjustable, they are perfect, went skiing and wore nothing but them and soccer shorts, fell a couple of times and stayed dry and warm , wind resistant and warm...couldn't be happier
Why is it that many TNF pants don't include the inseam length? I need a long leg in TNF but many of the ones available on Backcountry.com don't include the inseam length in the dropdown. Makes it impossible for me to buy them!
Great pants for an excursion out in the snow. They are completely waterproof yet breathable allowing you to stay more comfortable and the fact that they are not insulated gives you the option to use them in the spring. I have the Long version and they are sufficiently long enough for my 6'4" frame. I've beat mine up pretty well while snowshoeing and hiking around the snow and the pants have held up perfectly thanks to the infamous TNF workmanship. Don't forget that these pants are not insulated so if plan to use them on very cold days, I would get one size larger so that you can wear insulating layers underneath.
GORE-TEX and North Face. Shells need varying layers depending on conditions. 100% waterproof. These pants allow you to do anything you want anytime you want no matter what wet conditions. I'm an awkward 37" and the L are perfect even a little loose. Inseam is bout 32".
For the money, this is a high value pants. I'm not even gonna touch the water repellent and wind stopping qualities of Gore-Tex which is a given. The gaiter with velcro and snap enclosure is a good convenient for quick wrapping over the boot (vs. zipppers). The cut/design of the pant is simple yet highly functional. The issue is the fit, which seems to run on the larger side. The size chart says medium is 32-34 inches. I wear 32-33 pants (from the usual banana republic, express, jcrew, etc. brands)...and the medium was too large for me even after pulling on the velcro waistband to the max. So I ended up getting the small, which fits but is a bit tight on me (the snap enclosure pops out sometimes). I'm sure this shouldn't be an issue for most people though...and I just need to loose some weight.
I was so excited for the snow to fall and try these puppies out. Like others have stated, they are sexy...they are waterproof. They felt great. Not warm but that was expected.
So what's the problem? After day 3, I noticed cuts and nicks on the thicker part of the pant near the boot....whatever...I don't really care about that near the boot, but I was surprised because that's the more tough material.
Then by the end of day three when I took off the pants I noticed the real rip that broke my heart. Right where you'd put your wallet in the back right of the pants. It's pretty large. I'm a good skier, I didn't fall that day...I wasn't on my butt at any point...I don't know how it happened. But I do know I'm very disappointed in the quality of the pant.
I am very happy with these pants. They fit well and don't fall down, the waist is slightly adjustable, and they are easy to get on and off. They are also light weight. I wear a Patagonia Capilene 3 layer underneath, and I am never cold or warm - always just right.
