The North Face Freedom Pant - Men's - 2007

The North Face made the Men's Freedom Pant with a relaxed fit, so you have plenty of room in the seat, thighs, and knees for bomber mogul runs or ventures into the park. Thanks to The North Face's waterproof breathable HyVent fabric, the Freedom Pants are at home in dry climates and in the soggy Northwest. Mesh sections in the gaiters pull air up through these shell pants and out thigh vents, so you get full-leg coolation on warm spring days. Layer ski underwear under the Freedom Pants during winter cold spells. Gripper elastic gaiters block snow, and bomber reinforcement on the lower cuffs fends off errant trees, rails, and board or ski edges. Articulated knees and a roomy fit give you all the freedom you need to huck, spin, and flip your way to glory.

Bottom Line: Gain freedom from too-tight-in-the-butt ski pants.

I'm a big fan of north face and they didn't disappoint with these pants. Good venting, comfortable fit, pockets where you need them.

Great Performance

By:
January 7, 2008

These pants keep you warm and dry all day long (with a base layer, naturally), I haven't had an issue with them yet. They seem to be very durable (it's still early in the season, so we'll see) and vent well when you're overheating or go inside. I think they might be a little big for me (these are mediums and I wear 32x30 jeans), but with boots on dragging the bottom cuffs really isn't an issue; I'll take mobility over constriction any day. Also, I might recommend wearing a belt (there are beltloops), as they slide up my midsection in the front when I sit down. Overall, these are minor issues though, the technical performance is stellar.

I thought these pants were pretty good the only thing that i can say bad, is that if your short these will not fit i had to modify mine to get them to fit right. Great value.

Solid Pants

These are a good buy. The price was very reasonable and they are very comfortable. Much better than my old pants. They keep me very warm on windy days. Also, the availability of "long" sizes is a plus. I am 6-5, 195 lbs and the Large/Long fit me great.

I wear a 36x32 blue jean. Is an XL going to be too large?

Outstanding Snow Pants!!!

By:
February 4, 2008

Bought the The North Face Freedom Pants in preparation for the Green Bay Packers playoff game against the Seattle Seahawks. It snowed the entire game and the Freedom Pants kept me warm and dry throughout. Money well spent for a very high quality product!

TNF Freedom Pant

By:
March 4, 2008

After scouring all online sources for ski pants, chose the Freedom shell from Backcountry.com. Wore them through foot of fresh in Vail back bowls and carving up sunny Beaver Creek last week. The Freedom pant is great design with just enough pockets w/out being too trendy, great function on cold snowy and warm sunny days (thigh zips are great on lift ride), and great look.

These pants are uninsulated and yet still very warm. They are also very comfortable. The only complaint I have is that the gator openings are not adjustable.

Koooool & Tuff Pants

By:
February 13, 2008

These pants were great on a recent Colorado ski trip, warm, comfortable, and tuff. A friend on the trip had a $100 pair of off-brand pants that ripped the seat seam on the first day (too funny). He was really admiring my The North Face pants after that!!

Solid

By:
March 4, 2008

Northface Freedom pant is a solid bargain, good technical ski pant. Double snap and velcro waist closure, enough pockets, articulated and comfortable in motion, warm at single digits with midweight long underwear. I'm 6'7" with 37" inseam; bought xl "long" and I've got plenty of length. Good quality snow cuff. This pant rivals Patagonia's old drop-seat pant, and thats saying something.

small was too small; medium was too big. would rather be able to purchase a size 32 for a good fit.

Solid Option

By: Backcountry.com Employee
July 8, 2008

I picked these up and have really been happy with the performance. They fit well (especially in the short lengths for those of us who are vertically challenged), they do a great job in wet weather, and they vent nicely with or without the leg vents opened. For the money, this is a tough pant to beat

Perfect for short legs

By: Backcountry.com Employee
March 25, 2008

Buying ski pants has always posed a problem for me as most brands tend to run long in the inseam length. These on the other hand have worked out perfectly in the fact that they are avail. in a short version. I have used these pants in varying conditions from sunny and powdery to wet and heavy and they have yet to disappoint. If you are looking for a great pant at a reasonable price, I would definitely recommend these.
