The North Face Doubletrack 21 Pack - 2750 cu in - 2007
When you're meeting your friends for a weekend getaway, bring The North Face Doubletrack 21in Pack. As you reach the airport, extend the pull handle and wheel this travel pack on over to thegate. Once you reach that mountain ski town or brightly lit city, The North Face's curved lumbar panel and contoured shoulder harness make this pack comfortable to carry on your back as you search around for your hotel. Once you've settled into your room, un-clip the daypack, stash your wallet inside, slip a water bottle in the outside mesh pockets and check out the local scenery.
Bottom Line: With a detachable day pack, The North Face Doubletrack 21” Pack prepares you for the shorter trips within your weekend vacation.
Hi, 3 questions if I may! I was wondering what the difference (if any) is between this model and Item #TNF3782. Also, neither is listed as carry-on, but the dimensions are well below the current max.Any reason for this? Lastly, I want to be able to bring a laptop. Is there a "hydration clip" in either of these that can be used with The North Face Multisport Laptop Sleeve Item #TNF3965? Or is there already a laptop pouch built in and not mentioned? Thanks!
There is one big difference between 2008 and 2009 versions (I bought both. . . long story). The 2008 has a MUCH smaller daypack and can only barely fit a 13" laptop. The 2009 can fit my 15.4" Macbook Pro just fine - strange, because this change in dimensions does not seem to be reported anywhere on the net.
1)TNF1999 that is pictured above is a 2008 product, #TNF3782 is a current 2009 model 2)The Doubletrack 21 meets carry-on requirements when the daypack is not attached, but not with it on. This is probably why it is not listed as carry-on size. 3)There is a padded laptop / hydration sleeve (with hydration port) in the removable daypack, not on the main roller. There are not any hydration clips that I know of, just the sleeve in the daypack.
I love this bag! It's the perfect carry-on wheelie. Of course, you do have to detach the daypack otherwise it won't fit the overhead compartment. The big red wheels and sturdy handles makes running through the airport a breeze. My bag never twisted once even through escalators, switchback lines and bumpy asphalt. This was a problem with every other carry-on I've ever had until now. I packed it for a weekend trip and still had space to spare. Perfect when you buy lots of souvenirs like me during the trip. A great feature that I didn't notice until I was packing was the attached zippered front cover that was tucked away. When the daypack is detached, it reveals two netted pockets on the front and a horizontal zipper on the bottom that holds the second front cover. It's dual zip and gives you an extra storage pocket that great for books or games to keep you occupied when you're traveling! The daypack was just the right size that I didn't have to worry about knocking things over in cramped stores. The four compression straps with clips were very useful. I even used it as a jacket holder!
I've tried out the backpack mode but haven't field tested it yet. It has cushy shoulder straps and waist belt. It felt very secure albeit heavy in this mode.
It's the best carry-on I've ever used! I can't wait to use it again with my Doubletrack 25 in Australia!
This bag is, without a doubt, the most useful piece of luggage I have ever owned. I travel for business and use this bag only for any trip less than 5 days. When I travel with my wife and 2 kids, my wife packs more than anyone would ever need or use (right fellas?) Before I had this bag, it was impossible to manuever all our belongings through the airport without the help of a cart or vallet (there goes a $5 tip!) Now I can throw this bag on my back and free my hands up to handle the other bags and crazy kids. LOVE IT!!
This pack is unbelievably good. Great design, very rugged construction and good materials. I just traveled across three continents and this bag was perfect - great in airports in "wheelie" mode, excellent when making your way through the city and public transport in "pack" mode, and the day pack is pretty perfect for out-n-about stuff.
The smallest size is legit for airline carry-on, although with the daypack attached it raised a few questions. Just detach and put it on your back as your "personal item" and all should be fine.
Very well made and rugged pack. Many useful pockets for small items like pen, cell phone, ipod etc. I was able to pack enough stuff for a week long trip cross country. Highly Recommended.

Does this come with two bags? The wheeled carry on and a backpack that attaches? I couldn't tell from the write-up if it was just one bag or if it was two as the picture shows!
