The North Face McMurdo Parka has been ruling the puffy jacket market for years. This season it returns with even more pockets and features. Now with two internal water bottle pockets, two internal security pockets, and an electronics acceptance system, you'll be prepared for anything, including the blizzard of the century. This extra-large, puffed-out mobile storage unit rolls with a detachable, faux-fur-lined hood. The McMurdo is a perfect puffy for the Chi-town, NYC, or anywhere with biting, humid cold. Science time: check out how North Face utilizes 2-layer HyVent, North Face's proprietary waterproof, windproof, breathable, and highly abrasion-resistant fabric.
Bottom Line: Rule the streets with The North Face McMurdo Jacket.
Great jacket, too many Logos. Far too much Velcro: on the sleeves, in the flaps of the external pockets (three), in the internal pockets (three), and on the hood (five). It took me two hours to get rid of all that wool shredding stuff! At least the zipper wind flap uses snaps. Why couldn't they use snaps all over? Great down jacket with a great hood otherwise, just remember to remove the Velcro before it eats your sweaters, gloves and hats.
Great price on a great coat! Took on Alaskan cruise - up on the deck at night I was toasty warm and protected. Looking forward to winter! Thanks backcountry.com
I love this jacket! So warm and waterproof. Heaps of very useful pockets, just a T shirt underneath at night and no need to layer. Sizings are quite large, I'm 6'3 and 190lbs and a medium is perfect.
Good parka with a great hood. At 6'2" I usually wear a large Tall. The body and length are good, sleeves too short, compensated for with the tops of gloves. Front zipper wind flap has snaps, but three external, three internal and five hood/collar closures have Velcro. After two hours of removing the wool shredding stuff, I have a decent coat. One concern: there is a small print tag deep in the recesses of the jacket that state there is the minimum allowable down content in the jacket. Does that mean 30% feathers? It works well in cold windy conditions. It is a bulky down parka with a great faux fur trimmed hood.
Well Guys I am waiting for the winter to come in and I will write you back and tell you how warm I am. But my coat look well it fits good and I will be buying the one for the ladies very soon I like everything you have to offer on line please don't stop. Thanks
This is as close to the reindeer parka of the north Scandinavian natives you can get. Warm, weather proof and rock solid, been testing this parka in everything from -25C blizzards to mid winter rain and it has never given in. It can fit all the food, drinks and stash you need for a few days hike too, and it's even street fashion in Soho! Choice of the century!
I bought this parka mostly on the reviews that were posted. After receiving it, I tried it on and it is outstanding. A bit bulky but when it's cold, so what. Only problem is the hood. It is hard to adjust. It does run a bit large in size, so order accordingly.
Excellent choice for protection from severe elements. Too heavy and bulky for strenuous activity. A++ for commuting, spectator sports etc. Will keep you warm and dry during coldest wind, snow, sleet etc.
It is 14 degrees today in Chicago, and I am warm and comfortable. This coat is the best investment to keep the chill off. It's fashionable but very practical. Don't go out in the freezing cold with out it.
I own several North Face down jackets, and they are all outstanding as far as warmth, comfort, fit, and quality of construction. My only criticism of this jacket (as well as the Sherwood) is that when you cinch up the hood, you get a delightful view of your toes. There is no adjustment on the back of the hood to compensate for this; a rather strange oversight from a company that clearly puts such a great deal of thought into their products. Aside from the minor oversight, I have nothing but the highest praise for this jacket.
I have ordered 2 of these jackets. Large was too big for me so I sold it to a friend and ordered medium. It is the best buy I have done, warm, waterproof and awesome for cold Norwegian winters. Quick shipping and good service. Keep it up. Pål-Fredrik. Norway
The coat is excellent with as many pockets as you will ever need whether you want it for serious cold weather, or just for chilling on the streets. Definitely a good buy, and definitely a good online store. Highly recommended.
well built, very warm. used during coldest days. performed well in windy conditions. very durable and provides excellent insulation from the elements. A SOLID TEN!!!!!
this is a really nice parka, well designed, good looking, warm. but, it is really heavy. that's the only downside to this coat that I've noticed (at least so far). i get compliments on it.
i don't think he's gone outside without it sense he opened it up Christmas day, he's even attempted to put it on on the semi-warm days. i think that it has a very sporty look, which only adds to his attraction. i'm glad to have invested.
I got this coat for my first winter here in the mountains between North Carolina and Tennessee, fully expecting to freeze to death as a former resident of coastal southern Georgia. Let me tell you, this parka was as warm as the balmiest Georgia day in the below freezing Tennessee highlands. First rate construction, style, and comfort. My only gripe is that the hood might be too big, as it comes past eye level fully pulled down. Otherwise, it's fantastic.
This coat is exceptional in every area. It's warm, fully water proof and suits your every need with 11 pockets including one for phone and MP3 Player (iPod etc). All in all it's the best coat i have ever had and if i had he chance to buy it again i would. The only thing i would say is make sure u get the right size. I'm 6ft and the large is a little big but still does the job fine.
Well made, good color (dark grey) and pockets galore with choice of 2 hand warmers. But outer fabric is stiff and the coat is on the heavy side for a down-filled garment.
Purchased this parka for work travel to cold weather minesites. While I can't speak about the ease of use when hooking up your mp3 player, I can say that this is a very warm coat. Spent two weeks in Northern Sweden with temps ranging from -10 to -25F with no issues at all. All buttons and zippers are easy to operate, even while wearing winter gloves. I found the internal pockets listed as water bottle holders to be very effective for holding a set of gloves. The ability to move/remove the hood and faux fur is very useful during quick temperature swings. Overall, a great parka.
Have been looking for years for long parka short coat Down filled.Man made insulation just doesnt cut it innew england cold and wind chills.Late season purchase;have not worn jacket yet.Only hope not too bulky to ski in.Jim P.
