The North Face Destiny Down Jacket - Women's - 2006
When The North Face talks about cold-weather skiing, they mean -20F at Banff in February. The Women's Destiny Down Jacket meets the demands those days require. You wonder why everyone else heads for the lodge as you stay toasty warm inside the 600-fill down. Pull up the Destiny Down Jacket's insulated hood when the mercury drops out the bottom, and keep on skiing. You still need style, so The North Face made this puffy jacket with an offset zipper and centered pocket to set it apart from the crowd.
Bottom Line: When people ask how cold it was, just tell 'em “I don't know. I was wearing The North Face Destiny Down Jacket. I though it was warm.”
This jacket would only work in terms of keeping one warm if one was wearing snow/ski pants that would cover waist area...the jacket is fairly short...too short for my purpose. The colour, the hood, and the style were quite nice however.
Jacket is good, wife really likes it. Keeps her warm even in our -25 degree Canadian weather. Some of the down comes out though which is kind of sucky having to pull them out, I think the down count of 600 is down to about 583 now...
This is the warmest waist length jacket that I own. I ABSOLUTELY love it. It is perfect for the brutal winters in Chicago. I wear it with everything...dresses, pants, suits, jeans, etc. I also wear it everywhere...to business meetings as well as weekends out and about with my dog!
This jacket arrived in the nick of time at the start of a sub zero cold spell. So far I've been impressed. It feels so much lighter than my other longer down jacket, but it's just as warm. The off center front zipper is not as strange as it first seemed and the fleece sewn in around the collar near the face is the best thing going. I'm still not sure what the cuff zips are for, but they work great to keep the jacket clean and out of the way while doing the more mundane chores--like grocery shopping. Too bad it doesn't come in green...
This Destiny Down Jacket didn't look like it did on the Internet photo, so I actually sent it back. It is not very puffy, and it is short--definitely more of a style jacket. Not recommended for outdoor activities other than walking around the Sundance Film Festival or Sun Valley or the like...
This is, by far, the warmest jacket I've ever owned. My family had to purchase new coats for our trip to Finland, and we were very concerned about being too cold. This coat has kept us warm! I love it and will purchase one again next year!
