My favorite pants!

By:
April 30, 2007

I have now worn these pants for three days in a row - and am back to buy more. These are the first pants I've found that fit my 5'9" frame (buy the longs). They stretch out quite a bit between washes, but tighten up your belt a bit and you're good to go! (Besides, it makes them easier to climb in)

Good travel pants

By:
February 9, 2007

These are really lightweight pants, they fit loose so if you don't want them baggy then get a size down. They do wrinkle easy but it is not unattractive.

cargo pants come back!

By:
July 20, 2009

Here it is 2009 and i am desperately searching for the best pair of lightweight, very definitely cool looking pants I have ever owned. I wear the women's libra cargo pants dancing and they are always given 2nd looks by both men and women, and they are now wearing out. I think I have gotten dance partners because of them. My size 6's have stretched a bit but worth wearing. They are the best! I miss having them.

Order one size larger!!!

By:
November 30, 2007

OK, so I read all the reviews before buying these, but I decided to order my normal size 6 after reading about the girl who was 5'4 and weighed 130 lbs who said the 6's fit her. I'm 5'6 and weigh around 130 lbs or so, so I thought they'd fit fine. WRONG!!! They are way too tight. In fact, I'm not sure whether I should reorder them in an 8 or 10. I don't own any other North Face pants, so I am not familiar with their typical sizing. They do look and feel nice, I just wish they fit!

Love them!

By:
February 22, 2007

I adore these pants. It feels like they were tailor made to my body. I love the low rise, which can be hard to find in outdoor styles but best of all they fit my runners thighs! I have an extremely hard time finding pants that fit my thighs and my waist. Usually the waist ends up way too big but these fit perfect without being too baggy. I will be buying more when my next pay check comes in.

Too big!

By:
December 5, 2007

I have an older pair of pants size 2 from TNF and l love them. Now the sizes seems to be a little off and size 2 is too big, especially after wearing it for a day. I know I didn't get any skinnier. Alas, it's the pants! They got bigger!

Super comfy!

By:
October 10, 2007

Great comfy pants! Run small, had to order 1 size bigger than I usually wear. Sand dune color in short length is not that short, 1.5" longer than other colors available in short length.

I ordered this in a 4 and it was a little too big. It's too bad because they were awesome pants. They felt nice and looked good. I'm waiting for a 2 but they're all out.

Libra Cargo

By:
January 30, 2007

These pants were incredibly comfortable, a great fit. But I am 5'2 and they almost seemed a touch too short. The legs were a little too wide for my liking, so I ended up returning them. (I'm a size 4, if that information helps at all.)

Really nice

By:
September 22, 2006

Yep, everyone is right--these are nice pants. The fit great and are comfy right out of the box. I wore mine the first night I had them to a show. The dark grey is classy, but fun. I'd point out that the material very light, probably nice and cool in the summer, but it's too early to say how durable they are.....I think I may buy another pair in the khaki.

Libra Cargo Pants

By:
December 5, 2005

Everyone should own a pair of these! They are the most comfortable pants ever. Since the day I received them I've worn them more times than I can remember. I went back to buy another pair for myself and some for my sis-in-law, but they were out of stock. Apparently, I'm not the only one who was extremely pleased with the product. Thanks!

Absolute Best Pair of Pants

By:
August 31, 2007

I bought a pair of these last month and took them on vacation to Maine. I ended up wearing them almost every day-from kayaking to hiking to going out to dinner. They are so comfortable and a super flattering cut. You feel sexy and outdoorsy and hip. I am a curvy yet fit woman and have a hard time finding clothes that fit my curves. These look fantastic. I love them so much I just bought another pair! Def. recommend these to any gal.

I love A5 clothing and love these pants. A recommendation for those like me (5'8" with long legs), get the "long’s.” The material is thin so you don't want these for winter, but they fit great and wear pretty well (slightly stretch out while wearing).

Best Travelling Pants Ever!

By:
October 28, 2005

These pants are amazing! I brought them to Asia for a 2 months trip, as an alternative to the convertible pants and loved them. They are made of cotton, which makes them cool in the summer weather, and they are surprisingly light and compact, which is a key feature when traveling. They have endured tough conditions, including being washed in India (they trash and beat clothes against rocks to clean it). Not to mention that it fits great, it's dressy enough for city, and comfortable enough for traveling. I would definitely recommend it. Just 2 things that I'd add to them: 1) they loosen up with wear but shrink again after washing, so maybe having some buttons to adjust on the waist could be a good addition. 2)They could also have a small button to hold them up when you roll legs up.

Best Cargo Pants Ever

By:
November 16, 2005

I love cargo pants especially for traveling; saves carrying an unnecessary purse. When I ordered these I expected another pair of generic cargo pants. I was happily mistaken. Great style, sits low on waist, pockets fit a lot of stuff but don't billow out like extra thigh fat! I highly recommend these if you are looking for a nice fitting pair of cargos!

So comfortable!!!

By:
August 20, 2007

I love these pants! They are a medium weight (neither too light or too heavy) and they come in talls (hard to find for this 5 foot 10 inch gal). The only problem is that I sized up based on previous reviews and shouldn't have - I got soaked coming down a 14er and they got a little heavy (wouldn't have been a problem if they weren't loose). I think they actually fit pretty true to size.

North Face Libra Cargo Pants

By:
June 20, 2006

These are by far the most comfortable, long wearing, best washing, utilitarian, flattering pants I have ever owned. After having twins, I purchased an 8. A few months later, I ordered a 6 (lost a bit). Then I tried to order a 4 but could not (out of stock), so my seamstress took in the others. Now I am down to my regular size 2 and these poor pants will have to be taken in again. Please make these pants again, get them back in! I have a list of people who are interested in them and I myself will buy two of every size and color as I am sure to have more children (yes, I am brave.)

This is NOT a tall pant

By:
September 22, 2006

These are the cutest pants! I was really excited to see that they came in tall sizes, so I ordered a pair. I was very disappointed to discover that they were NOT long enough, not even close. If you're going to make "long" sizes, make them LONG!

Comfy, But Not Long Enough for the Really Long-Legged!

By:
January 14, 2008

These pants are really comfortable and an overall good fit, but if you have longer than average legs and are slightly high-waisted (I wear mine hanging on my hips), even the Long ones won't be long enough. I had to drop the hem on mine down an inch. Otherwise they're great and I highly recommend them!

What's up with the fabric?

By:
March 21, 2007

I absolutely love these pants, except for one thing: I don't think they will last the summer. The styling, the fit and the long length are great. I also love the lightweight material, but after only about 5 wearings and only 2 washings the edges around the waistband and along the cuff are fraying and coming apart. I am so surprised because I have other North Face clothing and the quality is usually excellent. I am really disappointed because it is so hard for me find long pants.

Decent, but not impressed

By:
April 14, 2008

I bought these pants expecting to be able to be able to really work in them, but the pocket ripped on the first day...and the pocket just had a cell phone in it--nothing heavy. I still wear the pants, I just don't use that pocket. In other ways, the pants seem to be working alright, though I won't wear them if I plan to do anything especially demanding for fear of more rips.

By:

I have a hard time getting pants to fit. I ordered the longs and they were long enough even to wear with heels, and they fit my butt and my waist at the same time (miracle)! These won't make you feel like you are wearing your boyfriends pants. Nice lightweight canvas. I only wish they came in more colors.

Sweet Pants!! :)

By:
April 22, 2008

These pants are very cute and have nice utility pockets to hold your gear. They are a great fit (maybe a tad shorter than I usually buy), and the only gripe I have with these is that they come out of the dryer very wrinkled and are difficult to iron out. Overall I like these pants very much... they just aren't the grab it out of the dryer and go- type of pants. These would be really cute on the beach rolled up..... They're so versatile!! I bought a 12 in the dune beige and thought the color and fit were both very nice. :)

By:
April 18, 2008

These are the best pants ever! I have them in two colors and love them. First pair of pants in a long time that I did not have to hem since they are made for shorties like me. :) They are pretty true to size and the reg. size 4 fits me perfectly. Another great thing is if you spill on the pants they dry in minutes, always a plus.

great pants

By:
March 27, 2008

Here are my stats (hope it helps):
5'5", 130 lbs, 29.5" waist, 38.5" hips, 31" inseam
I usually get a size 9/10 but the size 8 fits perfectly out of the wrapper. The waist does stretch out a bit after a day of chasing my kids around but it's nothing a belt or even taking in the waistband ~1" wouldn't cure. The general fit is awesome. I got the "where did you get those pants?" line and compliments everywhere (from moms, teenagers, and my husband too). They are very lightweight and it's easy to move around in them. I got them mainly because I needed super light weight cargo pants for a field geology course I'm taking this summer and these should hold my junk and stay cool in the 100+ temperatures there. I know they aren't meant for hiking but they were a better price, they had more pockets, and I feel super comfortable in them as opposed to standard hiking pants. I will check back in after camp and let you know how they performed.

I'm returning these pants only because they are too low in the back and too tight in the leg. And with a 2 year old I'm bending and moving all the time. I was bummed they didn't fit though b/c they are very cute.

My Go-To-Pants

By:
November 26, 2007

I love these pants. They are light weight, easy to care for, durable, and feel great on. I am 5'4 and 130 I got the the 6 R and they are a perfect fit for my size and height. I have them in every color now! In those situations where you just don't have a laundry mat they shake out and air really well. The cut is fashionable without loosing any utility. The rise is low enough to be flattering, but you don't look like you're going to club either. I only made one alteration to the pants. I had velcro put on the side pockets for easy access as the looped buckles were a pain, but then I'm often in situations where I need to access those pockets quickly.

Buy one size down.

By:
March 25, 2008

I loved the pants. Usually I wear a size 9/10. I purchased a size 8, and still had a little room in the waist area. I'm not sure if I would take them traveling, as they retain the wrinkles in the back of your knee area. They're a comfy pair of pants.

Best Cargo's Ever!

By:
May 11, 2007

These are definitely the best cargo's I have ever worn. They are very flattering to the female figure without being bulky or binding. Very Slimming! I live in the Houston Texas area and also travel frequently to Oklahoma and Colorado. The light weight fabric is perfect for all climates. More comfortable than jeans. Absolutely my favorite pants to wear. I am long legged and love being able to buy these in longer lengths. Great Pants!!!

Great Pants

By: Backcountry.com Employee
July 25, 2008

I love these pants. They're comfortable and have a great fit to them. I get compliments all the time. Only problem is that they do stretch out over the course of the day and they get very wrinkled very easy. Those are just minor complaints and the overall fit and feel of the pants over ride any problems I have.

Very comfortable

By: Backcountry.com Employee
July 16, 2007

These are the softest, most comfortable pants I own (well, that excludes my sweatpants). The fabric is extremely lightweight and can even be worn on 90+ degree days. They wash well (I haven't tried them in the dryer yet), and look as good as the day I bought them a few months ago. I've had many people stop & ask me where I got them because they look "comfortable". I had to order 1 size larger than I normally wear to get the right fit.

I have an obsession with cargo pants. I love having the extra pockets. These pants have big side pockets and they fit great. They are longer then expected, but that's an easy fix.
The hand pockets have a cute button accent.
