The North Face Paramount Ascent Short - Women's - 2007
The North Face Paramount Ascent Short is a techy set of everyday shorts. And elastic, drawstring waist is slack-tastic, and front patch zip pockets give it a tech look and, incidentally, hold stuff. Water-resistant and quick-drying, the Paramount shorts will stay dry and comfortable in all kinds of crazy summer weather. A gusseted crotch gives you great freedom of movement and makes the shorts suitable for climbing, as well as just being a bum.
I typically shy away from shorts and opt for capris or long hiking pants simply for coverage and comfort. However, these shorts fit well and do not ride up or bunch as some shorts often do. The length is great, falling maybe five inches above the knee. And while I usually struggle to find a nice fitting ratio between hip and waist the elasticity in the waist band keeps them snug at a lower rise, so that they don't fit like "Mom Jeans" hitched up to my true waist. Very comfortable.
I bought these for hiking and I love the fit, the amount of pockets, and how quickly they dry. They do shrink a tiny bit in the wash, so if you are fluctuating between which size to buy I suggest the larger.
I bought these for my girlfriend... and she loves them. She is about 5'1", and the small fits her great.
They are lightweight, comfy, and don't chafe at the waist. They have lots of secure pockets. They sit low on her waist (not granny shorts) and hit her mid-thigh.
These pants are great for working in the heat. I ordered them due to the yardwork I do in the mid-south in mid 90's temps. They are extremely durable (endure snags from tree limbs), are lightweight, and dry quickly. A "must" for hikers or extreme sweat activities in any kind of heat. They don't have much stretch but then, I didn't purchase them for that kind of activity.
I recently took these on a trip to Belize and Guatemala. Hiking, caving and kayaking. A great all around piece of clothing. Dry quickly, don't stain and have lots of pockets.
