The North Face Momentum Jacket - Women's - 2007

The North Face women's Momentum Jacket is a revolutionary fleece for light-and-fast scrambling through the backcountry. Part of North Face's Flight Series, it's built with breathable 4-way stretch fabric so it'll move with you when reaching for the next hold or paddling across the lake. Monkey thumbs keep the elastic bound cuffs in place for layering and a Napoleon pocket stows your energy bar.

Bottom Line: This Momentum will maintain its course for years.

Love it

By:

This jacket is fantastic. I'm 5'10" with long arms and often have trouble finding jackets with long enough sleeves - these are great, plus the monkey thumbs keep them in place when it's cold. It's surprisingly warm for the lightweight material, and very breathable. Great fall & spring jacket!

Perfect Mid-Layer

By:
January 9, 2008

This is my favorite mid-layer on cold days up on the mountain. I'm 5'9" and normally wear a LRG and would agree that a size down is best. I'm glad I got a MED. It fits perfect and the extra chest pocket is perfect for my ID and money.

urban & outdoor jacket two in one

By:
March 21, 2005

This jacket bridges the gap between urban and outdoor wear. I was looking for a jacket that I can wear while exploring the city and then drive to the trails for a hike - something that's made of technical fabric yet doesn't make you look "teched out." I like the track jacket style, and especially the small napoleon pocket on the chest. It's low-key & utilitarian. These features make the jacket blend in well in the city. Yet the thumb loop and flat seams make it fit well right under a snowboarding jacket. I can wear it with my Icebreaker long-sleeve tee and am set for the slopes. If I have to put in some criticism, I'd say, I wish they've made the exact same jacket with a more wind resistant fabric. But as you see from a lot of reviews, people have unreal expectations from their jacket. I'm happy with mine, it does exactly what I'm looking for.

Returning an item to Backcountry

By:
January 18, 2008

I hate to return things! I am often made to feel like I am doing something dishonest or cheating the company--but this is never the case with this company. They are nice, helpful, and make the process as easy as possible. The credit to my account has always been prompt, and the communication every step of the way gives me the feeling that I am working with a competent, professional and caring company. This is one of the major reasons I continue to do business with this site. You make shopping for particular teenagers not a risky business. Nice work folks!

Ahhhhhhhhhhhh...

By:
November 14, 2005

This jacket is a very comfy jacket. It not only does the job, the cut is nice as well. So, as you are working out or hiking you can look great too. The thumb holes are of great use to me especially in the morning cold. The jacket breathes very well and the stretchiness lets me move unrestricted. Since this jacket is so light, it's really easy to throw in a pack. I must agree with the other opinion though. It would be nice if the jacket were a little more wind resistant. After you get going and you start to perspire, that wind really blows right through the jacket. I did not buy the jacket for wind resistance though, so I am pretty happy. Would I have spent the same money on it again? Yes.

Light Jacket

By:
August 16, 2005

Once again North Face has produced a great product. The jacket is a nice and lightweight. However, the outside material has a shine to it kinda like a track jacket and the wrist elastics are a bit tight. Overall, I did like the jacket but due to the casual appearance of the jacket I had to return it. But if you are looking for a nice lightweight jacket with monkey holes for the thumbs you can't go wrong with this jacket.

Love it!

By:
May 9, 2006

This jacket was actually my roommate’s, but I loved it so much I had to buy my own. It's super soft, warm, and really stylish with the invisible zipper pockets. I love the thumb loops and the overall design. Totally worth it!

soft and comfortable

By:
June 15, 2006

This jacket is nice because it is a nice mid-hip length with a dip in the back for coverage. Its warm and soft material is more comfortable than most jackets that are stiff. Nice sleeve length. Pink matches the cosmo pink vest perfectly.

Warm and Beautiful

By:

This jacket is a great addition for women who’re sporty or casual. The fabric has a good feel and it is fitted, which I love. Not too loose and not too tight. Most importantly it will keep you warm during these fall days.

North Face Momentum Jacket

By:
March 29, 2006

This jacket has a narrower waist and a great feminine fit. It's light and perfect for cooler spring days or as a layer under a winter shell.

this was one great gift

By:
September 11, 2006

This was a gift for my wife before going to Whistler for some hiking and mtn biking. She wore this almost every day. She really like the monkey thumbs to keep her hands warm and the fit made her look stunning. We ordered another so she had more color choices.

Great Jacket but tight sleeves!

By:
August 17, 2006

I love this jacket and searched long and hard to find it. I got the best price at this site (REI had it in their store for $25 more). Every time I wear it I get compliments. Just one caveat - the sleeves are super tight around the wrist (upper arm is fine). I'm assuming it's for wind resistance etc, but for casual wear it's a bit hard to push 'em up to your elbows, to wash your hands for example. Maybe a size up would help if this would bug you.

Momentum Jacket, love it!

By:
November 14, 2006

I love this jacket. It's great for layering. I bought the white/grey and my only issue with it is I have a hard time keeping things clean so I can't wear it as many days as I would like to before washing. It's a very flattering little jacket though and the thumb holes are great! It's definitely not for chilly weather on it's own, so layer up or pull it out in early fall/spring.

Keep the Momemtum going!

By:
January 25, 2006

I've used this jacket in the spring, summer and winter. It's great for a base layer too; I've been wearing it under my snowboarding jacket and the thumb holes are really handy. It's a cool design and I hope that North Face gets smart and keeps the momentum going in all their new colors for '06-'07.

Good light layer

By:
November 28, 2005

This jacket is a good light layer, works well under a down vest. I like the style of the jacket, not your average boring light fleece. The outer material is great as it will resist pilling and dog hair. The fit is a bit snugger than I would like, I got a large and I am normally a size 12 on top. I have used it hiking and around town. Good value for the money.
