Swix Base Prep Cold Wax

There can be no good waxing without base preparation. To get ultimate glide out of your base(s) in cold snow conditions, use Swix Base Prep Cold Wax before applying outer layers of wax. Swix Base Prep Cold Wax helps skis absorb and retain subsequent wax jobs.

Bottom Line: Wax on, wax off, but first wax correctly with Swix Base Prep Cold Wax.

Do I put this on the bottom of my board and then scrape it off

Do I put this on the bottom of my board and then scrape it off immediately while it's still warm and melted? Or do I let it harden and scrape it off like regular wax and then rewax with my temperature specific wax?

In general, for any kind of base prep wax, you want to hot-scrape the base with a cleaning wax first, then put the new cold-weather base wax on.That said, because you want the skis/board to absorb as much of it as they can, the best way to go would be to put the board in a hot box for a couple of hours after you iron the cold weather base wax on. However, if you don't have one of those, then the most effective way to do it would be to let it sit for at least 20 mins per layer before you scrape it off.For base prep, we usually put two or more layers on, but that depends on what you are using the board for (racing specifically).Once you have the base prep on it, then depending on what you are going to use the board for, you might spend the same amount of time on the temperature specific surface wax.
