Swany X-Cell II Glove - Men's

The Swany Men’s X-Cell II Glove gives you durable weather protection that will last through years of hard skiing and mountain abuse. A waterproof breathable Dryfingers II insert blocks cold moisture from reaching your hands, and synthetic Tri-plex insulation retains precious heat without that oven-mitt feeling. The all-leather shell takes a beating all season long, and the anatomically curved fingers help you grip your poles on sketchy runs. Cinch up the full gauntlet to keep blowing snow out, and slide a hand-warmer pack into the front zippered pocket for an added heat boost.

Bottom Line: Complete protection with durability to match.

getting much better

When the Swany production went to China the quality leather was replaced with inferior, cheap paper thin leather. When companies decide to outsource they should teach the new manufacturer how to make the product but I guess that would cost too much so the consumer has to deal with products that are not made right until sales go down and finally some quality control is introduced.Although unfortunately still made in China probably by slave labor, this year Swany has actually used a leather that has a substantial quality feel to it reminiscent of the good old days of USA quality ski gear.

Simply the Best

Looked far and wide for a good pair of leather ski gloves. It seems many leather gloves are now made with very poor leather. A ski instructor in Stratton, VT recommended the Swany X-Cell's to me and said he had never worn a warmer pair of gloves...he is right. They are made from top-quality leather and grip like only leather can. If you ski where it's cold, these are a must.

Really warm-lousy leather

By:
October 23, 2009

Great gloves- very warm and they allow fairly good dexterity. My only complaint is that the leather wears out very rapidly. I have to duct tape the palms and thumbs after 50 or so days skiing and by the time I get to the end of the year (100+) they are shredded. No response from Swany when I tried to contact them directly. I will probably continue to buy these because they are so warm, but would definitely buy something that was as warm that lasted longer.

Just not that great

I really wanted to like these gloves and Swany has never let me down in the past. But they just don't keep my fingers as warm as they should for the amount of insulation they have. The leather is very nice and I have to admit that they are constructed to withstand tons of abuse but I really feel there are better gloves out there for the price.
