Bought a pair of these thinking they would fit between shorts and heavy tights...and they are doing just fine. A little more warmth than shorts for riding or hiking, they handle the abuse of the trail and my expanded rear and gut. Nice features, including the pocket in the back (you will want one on all of your pants).
