Stoic Merino Bliss Shirt - Long-Sleeve - Men's

With its soft, naturally odor-resistant 17.5-micron Merino wool knit and ½ neck zip, the Stoic Merino Bliss Shirt covers you in functional comfort, minus the synthetic funk factor. Stoic made this nest-to-skin top with ridiculously comfortable New Zealand Merino, rub-reducing flat-locked seams and side panels, and a body-heat venting ½ chest zip so you can blow off some steam after a mean summit push or a tricky boulder problem. Merino wool transfers moisture while your sweat is in its primary vapor form, so unlike most synthetic fabrics the Merino Bliss Shirt begins to pull moisture away from your body before your shirt becomes saturated. And since wet usually means cold in the backcountry, warm Merino is the way to go. Stash your lip balm, energy gel, or other small items in the Bliss Top's zippered chest pocket for safe keeping while you're on the go. A reflective logo hit on the Merino Bliss Top's collar ensures a little more safety during your evening runs, and the thumbholes at the cuffs take the bunch out of layering.

  • Backcountry.com is the exclusive US distributor for Stoic products

Bottom Line: Functional comfort, minus the synthetic funk factor.

This piece is very lightweight, if that's what you want, go for it. My feeling is go light on any base, and use the layers above it for insulation. I stay super dry in this. I have owned several Smart Wool and Icebreaker tops, and this is way better. The flat seams are way more comfortable than I.b. and the cost is lower to boot. I'm between sizes, my shoulders fit in a M, but the sleeves are a tad long for me. 5'9'' 144 lbs. This is my 7th Backcountry/Stoic piece, and I love every one of them.

its merino, so its good

If you haven't tried a merino wool baselayer yet, do yourself (+ friends) an odor saving, washing machine, softness favor + give it a go. Stoic bliss isnt a bad place to start if you want a zip top. The 1/2 zip is great to cool you down quick, or leave it zipped to keep your neck warmer + let the temperature regulating properties of merino wool go to work. Sweat, roll around in snow, stand around - Merino doesnt care, it wicks, insulates wet, + comes out smelling like a daisy.

This shirt in particular is finely designed, crafted, + assembled - soft, lightweight wool (sufficient weight if under shell in the cold if moving) flatlock seams, a zippered pocket, athletic fit + sleeves with thumbs holes. The only downside I see is the arms are a little long (like many stoic items).

I am 5'11" 165 + athletic - the medium fits pretty good.

I love my wool shirts but...I have an icebreaker and after a year or so, the wrist cuffs seem to be stretching out from pushing them up during trail runs once I warm up...
Anyone have a longer-term durability review of the elastic in the sleaves of this woollie?

Thin layering with good fit

Merino wool is the bomb. material finds a way to keep you in a balanced state of hemostasis, no matter if your skating up your project boulder or sitting at the library writing your thesis. got this top in a M (6'1'' 170lbs) and it has a great fit. very retro look with the chest zipper traveling all the way down to your mid chest (show some of the that monkey patch!). lost a star because the white shows your nips:/

this stoic bliss is a 17.5 micron which is softer hand, and even more comfortable, than the backcountry bliss of 18.8 micron. this material is the softest available, softer than smartwool, icebreaker. hell, its even softer than organic cotton!

Yeah it's pretty close. BC owns Stoic and have essentially the same people designing for Stoic.

If you want the short version buy this garment.

I am 6'0" and 180 the medium fits great. I always read about how well wool works and I 100% agree with it all. The merino wool is about the softest thing you'll ever feel. It wicks moisture away beyond expectations, and the best part of all is that it does not stink. I use this as a performance top at the gym and as a base layer for colder activities.

Compairing this to synthetic garments hands down I would pick this everytime. Save your self exta laudry by not having to wash stinkey close. Bottom line is that all my base layers will now be wool. Actually all my workout gear will now be wool too considering I will only have to wash them once a week. Hell I wish my armpit hair was made of this stuff!
