Stohlquist Brik Life Jacket

When you toss yourself into churning swirls of thundering whitewater for fun, the Stohlquist Brik Life Jacket keeps you afloat if it comes time to bail. This innovative vest features a diagonal cinching system, seven different adjustments, and internal Gripp-Loc non-slip panels to ensure the vest doesn’t ride up. The tough 500D Cordura shell holds up to gritty river boulders, and neoprene straps and side panels allow for full movement. The zippered mesh pocket holds your whistle and knife.

Bottom Line: This Brik ensures you don’t sink like one.

which has a lower profile-wedge-E or brik? which is less thickly

which has a lower profile-wedge-E or brik? which is less thickly padded or are they more or less equal? which has more pockets & more usable pocket? which is most comfortable for touring & bay kayaking & small trimaran sailing? (probably would only be used for limited or no whitewater)

Their padding is the same thickness, but the brik does not come up as high on the chest as the wedge does, giving it a slightly lower profile. Both only have one small-ish pocket which can only hold low-profile items, as the mesh is stretched tight against the pfd (see comment below). Comfort level would best be determined by yourself, as these jackets are very similar. I have the wedge, which I love. Boyfriend has the brik, but only because they were out of the wedge in his size. He loves his brik now and says he would be happy with either jacket.

Great pfd, no movement restrictions and the grippy paneling on the inside holds it snug in its place.

Would the pocket hold a small water bottle?

Good to see Angus guessing on a product he has never seen or used. Just like woman's fleeces! My rafting class instructor has this pfd and you can fit only a bit of cord or 2 energy bars in the pocket. A normal sized water bottle will not fit in the pocket.

Maybe a very very small one, but probably not.
