The Spyder Women’s Arc Tech Softshell Jacket easily transitions from powder-shredding outer layer to après-ski style wear thanks to its fleece-lined softshell outer and custom Spyder embroidery. This stretchy jacket features a Spylon water-resistant coating to help shed snow and light rain, and an internal hem drawcord and adjustable hood to seal out wind and powder blasts.
Bottom Line: Fleecy goodness on the inside, weather-shedding stretch on the outside.
Comfy cozy jacket for Fall and Spring use. It's very much like a shell sweatshirt with a furry hood due to the draw cords at around the hips. Flattering underlayer or cool weather base layer. It could serve as a cross country ski jacket if a few warm layer were placed underneath. I would never run in this jacket as Sypder suggests. It fits true to size. Be aware if you order the black that the picture is misrepresented. The black has a black fur hood...not white and the logo is Aqua...still great looking, but not as pictured. The black hood is actually better...it will stay cleaner!
This is exactly what I have been looking for...an nice lightweight, but warm, jacket for spring skiing. It is a great design, and the fleecy hood is great. The only minor problem I have is that is a touch on the small side in the hips...I got the XL hoping that it would be nice and roomy over my ski pants...while the rest of the jacket fits perfectly, it is too tight in the hips...not a total deal breaker, but kind of a bummer. Overall though, great jacket!
This is a nice little jacket but isn't quite warm enough for extended outdoor activity in very cold temperatures. Like the previous reviewer said, it's terrific for spring or fall. The hood is great and very warm. I wish the arms were a bit longer as I am fairly tall 5'8" and 135 lbs. I bought the hurricane (navy) color and it is a true dark navy. I actually bought the coat to coach tennis in the spring in Michigan. The soft-shell allows for some flexibility when feeding tennis balls and moving around a tennis court. I am very happy with my purchase.
I bought this jacket for my daughter for Christmas. She loves it. She is using it as her main ski jacket. We skiied 3 days this last weekend in 0 degree weather and with her underlayers she said she was plenty warm. Not only that it looked pretty hot with her white Burton ski pants.
There is a Spyder logo on the front chest, then the word "Spyder" on the back of one sleeve, and then another Spyder logo with some extra stuff on the bottom right of the back. So in all, 3 places where there is embroidery.
I have been looking for a hooded soft shell jacket for awhile and am very happy with my purchase. While I don't think it would keep me 100% dry in a snowstorm, I skied in the jacket in Utah in January in some light snow and was just fine. Also, it kept me warm with some layers. I received lots of compliments and can't wait to get back on the slopes in March. I think it will be a great spring skiing jacket.
The hood is the only place where there is "fleecy-goodness," but it feels more like fake fur than fleece...in short, it's amazing! The body of the jacket is lined with really light fleece, or something that seems fuzzy but it's not puffy at all. The front pockets are also lined with something that is incredibly soft. Hope that makes sense...
