The Snowpeak Titanium Double Wall Cup 450 is a super lightweight, insulated cup that will hold 14 oz of your favorite hot beverage. This tough and rustproof cup features an insulating double wall construction that will keep your beverages warm to the last sip. Corrosion-resistant titanium is super lightweight and has superior strength compared to steel. Backpackers who count every ounce will barely notice it is there. This ultralight cup weighs in at only 4.2 oz.
Bottom Line: Use it for your favorite hot backcountry beverages—it won't taint your morning coffee with the taste of the hot toddy you had around the fire the previous evening.
This cup does exactly what it says it does. It keeps whatever is inside nice and warm, while staying cool to the touch. And comes with a cool mesh net cinch bag so it doesn't rattle in your pack. Great product.
I went through a couple of steel insulating mugs before I sprung for the Snow Peak 450. It's lighter, never burns my lips and appears to be very well made. This one is a keeper. I didn't mind the Snow Peak name and logo on the side, but the "Outdoor Lifestyle Creator" subscript was a bit over the top, so I took a green pad and scrubbed the whole thing bare. Now it's a true minimalist mug.
I bought 2 of these Snowpeak double wall mugs, 1 each for my hiking buddy and me. We took them with us on a hike over part of the AT in North Carolina, between I-40 and Lemon Gap.
Mine worked great, holding a reasonable amount of coffee, and keeping it hot longer than my old plastic mug. The mug doesn't burn your lips, which was a worry for my buddy who did burn his on an older steel mug.
The handles fold neatly, and it nested well inside the Snowpeak Ti Trek 700. It feels a tiny bit lighter than my old mug too - every ounce saved helps. The only issue was that my friend's mug lost the logo printing on the side, when he used an abrasive cleanser. Not really an issue, and mine is still pristine.
Bottom line, I'd recommend these mugs for anyone wanting the combination of light weight, nesting ability, and insulation.
The price is a litle high but when you think of the weight and how it keeps things warm it's worth it. I actually bought a second cup after one morning not thinking I put my first on the heat. The bottom rounded out a little but it still works great. I now take the rounded one when backpacking on long trips with my wife and share it; and both when weight isn't much of a consideration like overnight in the warm weather or car camping.
if you are looking for a cup meant to drink from, this is a good one. If you are looking for a sauce pan to heat up something this cup is not worth your time.
this mug keeps my hot chocolate so insulated that i can set the mug right down in the snow for several minutes and expect it to still be piping hot when i pick it up again. of course, this also means that i don't run the slightest risk of burning my fingers on the outside. it's small enough to fit inside my titanium cookset, and big enough for me to store a gigapower stove inside it.
The 'Snow Peak Titanium Double Wall Cup 450' coupled with the 'MSR Mugmate Coffee/Tea Filter' and you can brew yourself a really good cup of coffee that will not burn your lips off. All that and light weight too.
The snowpeak 450 is great! I used it on a recent backpack trip for the first time and was very pleased. It keeps things hot and is easy to clean. If you want the best - look no further.
I've used this for everything from oatmeal to whiskey. After a few uses the metallic taste goes away, and even better, my oatmeal has never tasted like whiskey.
So good.... I use it everyday! Thought it was just for the pack but after trying it out it has also become my travel mug. Perfect size and the double wall is the ticket for a Ti mug.
1. Contents stay hot without buring your fingers or hand. Very comfortable to hold. 2. Easy to clean it, very light and convenient to carry. If you clean it well, cup doesn't accumulate "after-tastes". You can use it for many foods or beverages, but after cleaning, it doesn't make your favorite spring-fed well water tast like mulligan stew!! That's a real plus compared to cheaper alternative cups! 3. Keeps beverage hot or cold for 20-30 minutes, maybe more. 4. Sturdy (e.g., titanium is like that folks) 5. Holds up over time too!
I love this cup. It keeps liquids hot while staying cool on the outside. The folding handles save space and it fits inside my cook set. Expensive but worth it.
The mug is a nice (standard) size and holds temperatures well. I'm not new to dual wall designs. I have a lot of dual wall stainless steel mugs that I use at home and they are awesome. There are two problems with this mug though, that could be improved upon. First, the titanium is extremely thin. I dropped the mug from about 3 feet on my kitchen floor and it dented the bottom edge. I think it should handle at least a minimal amount of abuse since it's made for outdoor use. I'd hate to see how it looks after years of use. Second, the handles are awkward and feel uncomfortable at times. Maybe if they clipped into each other and wouldn't move around it would be a little better. Otherwise, this mug does what it's supposed to.
